A great little Restaurant with rooms open for Evening Suppers 5 nights a week (closed Mondays & Tuesdays) serving locally sourced home cooked food to order in our cosy lounge bar. As we only have a limited number of covers and the table is yours for the night, booking really is essential.
Amazing food, a small menu with various meat, fish and veg option, cooked from fresh produce. Dining in a warm, beautifully decorated dining area.Huge thanks for taking the time to post your review on TripAdvisor Heide - so glad you enjoyed your evening supper. We'd love to have you back - just give us a call to book a table. Cheers, M&M, The Hightae Inn.

We stayed end of May for 2 nights. We were able to check in really early which was a bonus to us so we could walk about Lockerbie.
Our room was at the front of the hotel. Good in size, with en-suite but the toilet was a Sani flo one to which made a noise every time it was used as thats the way it operated.
The breakfasts were great and we did eat there for the evening meals. We found the food to be good and portions were on the generous side.
I know its an old hotel but to me it could do to be revamped. I thought the style/decor was out dated but we still enjoyed our stay there.

Had a nice meal here last week nice and cosy had the deal on two rump steak dinners and a bottle of wine very very nice steak, they also do other deals too very clean and accommodating fresh cut chips home made onion rings and two succulent steaks plus a bottle of chardonnay which would have set you back about £16

What better way to start the day than with a full Scottish breakfast.
My husband and I both had a cooked breakfast. We ordered at the till, were given our drinks and didn't have long to wait, then our breakfasts arrived.
The plates were full, food was all freshly cooked and the service is great.
Highly recommended and will be back soon.

Visited with a group of friends after a long day on the estate.
Good food, fair service all with a smile even if a little confused, which may have been our fault with two of the diners eating in the bar because of their dogs.
Duck pate fair needs a little more flavour lacking the duck punch.
Sirloin stk cooked to my liking but required a little more trimming due to it being from the crop end, still retained its texture and flavour, chips a little soggy needed to be crispy, the side salad was a little bit lacking in the nouvelle cuisine style.
A couple of specials with looked interesting and look forward to trying more on the next visit. None of the portions are over facing in size. Everyone enjoyed their meal no complaints.

Good wholesome food and plenty of choice, especially with puddings. Main courses a sensible size, large puddings. Nice homely bar.

Stopped off here on our way up to Scotland for some lunch, a break from driving and to stretch our dogs legs. We have never stopped here before but really glad we did, round the back of the services was a beautiful large lake with a path all the way round it. There were plenty of waste/recycling and poo bins on the way round with some benches to have a sit down on and appreciate the surroundings. We sat outside and had some lunch from WH Smiths, 2 Ginsters sandwiches/crisps/chocolate bar/2 drinks and a newspaper, the total came to £13.78 (typical service prices double what we usually pay). The toilets were immaculately clean as was the rest of the services. It was great to stop at a service station that was away from the motorway and catered for pets, it was really nice to really stretch all our legs, you would never know you were at a motorway services.

The best thing about this hotel is the free show the swallows put on. You can have food or drink watching 100's of swallows putting on their acrobatic feeding display. The staff are good and attentive, but the hotel is tired. The rooms especially need...MoreDear Reviewer, Thank you for your review and kind words regarding the staff and service, regarding updating of the hotel, it was refurbished only 2 years ago, so unsure how much more updating you require ?
