This restaurant constantly features in my list of the top five fine dining restaurants in Durban. The service and quality and presentation of food never fails to impress. On my last visit we tries the calamari, pork belly, duck, line fish and steak all of which were cooked to perfection and presented well. Highly recommended for entertaining guests or celebrating that special occasion.

There is no doubt that Casa Toscana is the very best there is on the far South Coast.
Many of your favorite Italian options are available , in addition to the chefs local alternatives.
The pasta and fish options were great and all our guests had compliments for the way the food was prepared.
The service is at the very best average to slow , but remember you are in the South Coast and service is generally very very slow and poor.
A big YES

Booked a table for valentine’s day
Specifically asked for a table with sea vieuw , that was absolutely not a problem ! Arrived inside was given a beautiful white rose and a gin and tonic ! All the tables where set beautifully and stunning wooden floors , I understood at 599 per person this was all part of the beginning of our best Valentine’s Day ever !
Wrong ! I was taken to the pool area in my larney suit with take away umbrellas filled with people still from lunch ! If I wanted to sit somewhere casual I would expect a casual price , will come back another time , I feel they just don’t want to turn away any Bookings and make the best of the night they could , but I was to dressed up for a pool party ... sorry next time ..luckily I made an extra booking somewhere else at half the price ...

Tijn Huis is a cafe style restaurant offering light meals and high tea's.
Named for Hartfords head chef, Constantijn Hahndiek, the year old venue is set in formal landscaping, with water features and vegetable Gardens that are establishing beautifully.
We shared an exceptional (home grown) harvest table salad, with a platter of freshly homemade breads and butter. The service was excellent, we were shown through the hotel to the outside venue by the very friendly new manager, the cafe manageress was very warm and welcoming. The views over Hartford House hotel lovely, the stillness of the stud farm rejuvinating. everything about this experience is comfortably best.
The very real downside of visiting Tijnhuis for a quick meal is that you have to leave!
If you haven't been, you are missing out on the top quality cafe in the Midlands, probably province.

We left the N3 on our way to Johannesburg from Durban and had breakfast at this beautiful restaurant. The Gardens are gorgeous and we sat outside under a huge tree. We hadn't booked, but luckily got there early so there was 1 table available. They roast there own very good coffee. The service was excellent and the manager very accommodating - he gave us his card and said " please book before you come as we are always full" One can taste their coffees and they have a good range for sale.

Bel Punto is an Italian fine dining restaurant that has been nestled in the heart of the North Coast town of Umdloti since 2004. Opening out on an expansive deck overlooking the Indian Ocean, a day or evening at Bel Punto can be rated amongst the most exceptional dining experiences in South Africa today. Part of the experience is the ever-present chance of sighting a pod of dolphins playing in the crisp surf and sunset drinks at Bel Punto are not to be missed. We specialize in Italian Food, best quality shellfish, exceptional grills and home made pastas and pizzas.
From the moment you walk in the door you just know this is going to be a good night. The attentive staff were incredibly professional without a hint of stuffiness. We were met by the owner, not sure if this was because we were new faces, who wanted to tell us about the specials and how best to navigate the menu. Very tasty crispy Italian bread with good quality oil and balsamic vinegar arrived promptly with chilled lager and beautiful crisp cold wine. This restaurant is on a level above most places we had already eaten in, it’s not cheap but it’s worth every cent.

A modern and stylish Grill/Steakhouse that offers a short and sizzling menu. The meaning of Jichana, "eating good" in Swahili, embraces the flavours and aromas of the original east Coast of Africa's spice route. Cassia, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, turmeric and pepper. These robustly flavoursome spices complement the grilling of meat, fish and chicken creating Jichana!
From the enthusiastic opening of the front door to the wave of waiters eager to serve. One would be forgiven for thinking they all had equal shares in the business. My medium jichana steak with a truffel mushroom sauce and mash was exquisite.
Well done folks, I'll surely be back.
