The headlibe says it all; we booked a table and arrived on time to the restaurant where the chef refused to serve us, he worked too many hours that day he said.... he even yelled at the waitress who was trying to help us - dont go there this guy has no clue how to treat customers!

I ve been there last august, we were 2 couples and we decided to stay outside because the weather was beatiful. We ordered and there was a bit of waiting, we all got different starters and were very good especially the one with mozzarella and cured meats. I had a mixed grilled meats for main and portion was a bit too small of what i expected. House white wine was ok, price worked out a bit dear, not a disappointment though.

We had an amazing evening at Alla Luna. The food is quirky as is the setting and staff. It is not a quick eat so you need to sit back, relax and take your time but it is worth the wait. The portions are small but great quality and reasonably priced so would recommend having a few courses.

Had never been before to Goriska Brda. Just walked in to the first place on the road to had some snacks. And it was a good luck. Just a perfect restaurant with great food, excellent local wines, cosy Terrace and nice view. Polenta with mushroom dressing, tartar beefsteak and Rumena Rebula white wine are all highly recommended.
Friendly staff. We will certainly come again while next time visiting Brda and mostly likely will stay here overnight.

We went to a wedding at the Castello Formentini and had a most wonderful dinner in the Castle Library. Each course was a visual and gastronomical delight. Service was exemplary. This is a very special establishment that deserves excellent reviews. The Castle Tower suite where we stayed was a once in a lifetime experience. We loved everything about our stay! Magical ! At the present time the hotel is being revitalized but we are looking forward to returning. Many thanks to the Contessa for sharing this wonderful castle.

Based on 3 "excellent and 5 "very good" quotations we just had to go there. The place is not easy to find: without international signposts or inscriptions it is to be found next to an Outlook Tower just above Smartno. The entrance is through a big old wine barrel and reminds as such of Dante Alleghieri: ye who enter here, put away all hopes.
We had the choice of Seating on a very cool terrasse with beautiful view or in an unheated eating room. We chose the second. Our starter was spaghetti Frutti di Mare, just unedible. Main course were grilled octopus plain or stufffed. They both were edible, 3 points.
The wines, red and white, exclusively home made, were undrinkable. No Espresso available, just a dark liquid with a faint reminder of coffee.
Total bill for 3 Starters, 3 main dishes and coffee Euro 50.- without tip.
All in all, it was our worst experience ever in that region.

My third visit to Al Postiglione in 7 years only proved it again: this place is bound to be one of the best restaurants in the FriuliMy area! I have experienced three different owners now, and I can say that Francisco definitely proved to be the best host: wonderful dishes (needless to say that his Paraguay roots can be traced in wonderfully prepared meat variations), paired with a warm and friendly way of making you feel "at home". The fire place was crackling, and everyone made it a
special night for us. I recommend to let Francisco recommend a menu... And, of course, to enjoy the great selection of Perusini wines.

And very kind owners who present and serve their wonderfully tasting wines and gourmet food... Really really a must to visit if you are in Goriska Brda.

The food is good, but considering other reviews I expected a more elaborated set of dishes. We got a 7 course menu, starting with a set of amuse bouches with very raw and straight forward tastes. The second course was a set of raw fish, even though the tastes were rather boring. Next was a kind of consommé or fish soup with some scallops, which was a tasty dish. The chef then prepared a combination of mashed potatoes with truffles and egg yolk, which was a really well executed dish, but nothing really new. We continued with a risotto with shrimp and ended with some tuna and lemon mashed potatoes. Before the dessert we got some sorbet which cleansed the mouth really well. The dessert was a combination of panettone, creme anglaise and crumble.
The wine list is ok, even though I didn't get the feeling that the chef was able to recommend the appropriate wine to his dishes. Overall it was a pleasurable experience. I missed more feedback from the chef, who could use a little more imagination. The biggest drawback was definitely the price. There were 4 of us. Each of us had a 7 course menu, we started with a glass of sparkling wine and had two bottles of wine (both from 2014, if I remember well) and the final price was around 280 euros, which in my opinion was just too much for the food we ate and the wine we drank. I would definitely recommend the chef to to get out of his comfort zone and deliver bolder combinations, especially if he wants to charge that amount of money.

positive TA reports are correct, and corroborated by 'local knowledge'; it's a pleasant restaurant - quite spacious - with friendly and attentive service, a diverse menu and good food, including tasty regional specialities. Decidedly better than Alla Luna, which for some reason is rated rather higher.
