Over 3 nights the food was excellent.Mushroom Risotto was moist and the Belly of Pork so tender. Good choice of meals on main menu plus several daily 'specials' Very cosy bar/dining area where dogs are allowed. Also lovely garden area and dining room.

Pub with rooms and restaurant in Kirkby Stephen (by the way - type of cuisine above does not accept any entry)
We called in here for dinner on the way to Manchester. To be honest we tried other establishments before here and because we hadn't booked they didn't want our custom. So are hopes weren't hugely high when we saw the menu we weren't expecting much. But it wasn't bad at all. Although even for a Monday evening they had sold out of a couple of main items. What we had was delicious, especially the onion rings. It started to fill as we were leaving.
Certainly wouldn't mind going again.

Visited this restaurant on Saturday night, was busy but found us a table. The meal was lovely, very quick service but atmosphere and decor needs sorting. Lighting could do with dimming a little and could to with a coat of paint. Couldn’t fault the service

Popular Cafe/Bistro in centre of Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria.
We ordered 2 fish, chips and mushy peas and 1 scampi, chips and side salad. All were large platefuls, clearly freshly cooked and served piping hot. There was a good selection of home made cakes that looked very good but after the substantial main courses none of us could manage a dessert.
Decor is nothing special, but all is very clean and staff are friendly. Probably the best choice in the area for a moderately priced lunch.

Back to the Century Chinese restaurant and it's really delicious food. We dream about the food when we are away. We eat everything prawn on the menu and all is wonderful. Every time we come in the staff is so welcoming and remember what we want even before we tell them. I am always impressed that they remember I want " no onions". We always use Takeout but they have a nice eat in restaurant upstairs where our friends go on special occasions.

It's set in an absolutely gorgeous location, and the play area outside for kids is great, but that's about all it has going for it. It's expensive, the ice cream's nothing special (the cookie one that my Nephew had was absolutely disgusting) and there's too many tables squashed into a small space!! Apparently the banana waffle was very good, and I must say it looked it.
It's got the potential to be amazing, the idea's good and as I say, location is perfect, but it needs more attention to detail, and better ice cream! Wouldn't mind so much paying the excessive prices if it was better than your average shop bought stuff.
And as someone else has previously stated, staff weren't friendly - it was almost as if you were being a nuisance to them by going in.

Every morning they have a full English breakfast. Sooooo yummy!!! Best I had in all of England. Plus, you can have the kitchen get you snacks later in the day. I cannot wait to come again and have their afternoon tea as it looked fantastic!!
