Vrh is the right place for gourmets, where you can enjoy the delights of Istrian cuisine.
We came with high expectations for lunch and were not dissapointed! Great ambience, friendly service and above all amazing and fresh local food! We had the local soup (Bobici) and gnocchi and fuzi with the local Boskarin ox meat and the filled fuzi, and for dessert the chocolate cake.
I would definitely reccomend it to anyone in the area or even for a weekend trip from Pula or Rijeka, and even from Slovenia or Italy, you'll not regret it.
Prices are fair for the quality.

The food was very photogenic , some dishes were whimsical and delicious , everything was tasty , and the service was mostly great . Our only criticism was that the sommelier said our initial choice of wine was "garage wine" and dissuaded us from ordering it. Ok, but why offer such a choice on the menu ? ! We did take sommelier 's advice and liked the next choice . The five course tasting menu was very tasty and we couldn't imagine even more desserts with other tasting menu

Service was friendly and efficient. Sommelier extremely knowledgeable about the (rather wonderful) local wines. Try the Tomas orange wine if you haven't already.
Cod tripe unusual and interesting. Tartare steak was done perfectly, the pomegranate dessert - featuring mousse, sorbet and sugared seeds - very interesting indeed. Compliments to the chef. The millie-feuille needs some work to take it up a notch or two.
It's not cheap but it's very good. Enjoy.

If you're holidaying in Istria when the weather is not ideal for the beach or the pool, be sure to visit Motovun, one of the most striking small hill towns in this part of Croatia. In high season I imagine it will be bursting at the seams; it was still very busy in mid-September although we did manage to find somewhere to park halfway up the hill. From there a single, cobbled road leads steadily upward and on the left, just before the top, you will find Konoba Mondo.
We were fortunate to have booked a table for lunch three days after the white truffle season had begun so it was difficult not to be tempted by the various truffled dishes on offer (including desserts). After a complimentary (truffle-infused) tapenade, my wife opted for a plate of 4 huge ravioli, stuffed with spinach and cheese, topped with a generous heap of black truffles. I indulged another passion with cheese ravioli served in a rich sauce of walnuts and Gorgonzola. Both pasta dishes were a bit heavy in the eating, tepid enough to suggest they had not been served straightaway.
For mains we had tagliata (sliced rump) and fillet of beef - both plates served with small roast potatoes, some grilled vegetables and a very generous shaving of fresh white truffle. Mondo still uses a quotation from a celebrated New York Times reviewer who enjoyed one of the best meals of his life here. Ours wasn't remotely at that level but if you want hearty food in large quantities, and you like truffles, you will enjoy eating here.
Service was slow - just as well given the size of the portions - and it was two hours from sitting down when we finished our main courses. Eating inside would be attractive in winter but not so much while the sun is still shining - however insipidly. Outside options range from wholly unsheltered tables through ones with parasols affording partial protection from bad weather to a few under a solid roof, which is where we were sitting. Unfortunately this was adjacent to the toilets but we did also get a good view of the local black cat posing for photographs with every passer-by.
NB One extra tip from the head waiter at Mondo: if you want real truffle oil go to the shop directly opposite which sells the genuine article rather than the more obvious places a little further up whose product will never have come into contact with the actual tuber.

Traditional Croatian and Samobor cuisine
My wife and I were visiting in the neighborhood and decided to drop in here based upon the generally good reputation of this establishment. It was a VERY GOOD decision!! The menu is not one that tries to do everything, which already tells me that the do well what they prepare. If you love veal and desert pancakes, you will love this place! A large parking lot, belies the modest entry way across the street. But once inside, you see that the place has a capacity to serve a large demand. Quaint, yet discrete in interior design, the place has a natural charm that makes one feel at ease. The staff are relaxed and engaging, with an appropriate amount of humor, as well as informative regarding the fare offered. The owner and chef are very clever in that they offer a variety of options on basic themes. Where else can you find 2 pages, or about 45 different versions of palecenka? My wife ordered one of the sausage, njoke, krumpir, and sour kraut delights. I stuck to the basic strong suit herein of veal in mushroom sauce, and a mushroom soup. We were both delighted with the outcome. Calm, but not blaring music in the background, an appropriately attentive wait staff, and and absolutely delicious meal. Can;t ask for a better evening meal than this anywhere. We will return.....over and over again!

We are a small family restaurant. We offer tipical istrian dishes. There is place for up to 50 person, so we are a perfect place for your special events or just for normal sunday lunch with friends or family. At our place you can taste the food tipical for the region and we are specialized in truffles, also the wine is made by us! The best thing to do if you want to come is to call and reserve a table, especially during autumn and winter!
Excellent local food and wine, friendly and cordial service, reasonable prices and the best money/service value within 100 km diameter.
Features indoor and outdoor Seating, parking, beautiful view over half of Istria thanks to its position on top of a hill, and lately even overnight accommodation.
I have been returning regularly to this restaurant for two decades. I never ever go to Istria without planning to stop by there, and I have recommended it to dozens of people, always with an excellent feedback.
Do not miss the opportunity to check it out yourself. A sure bet.

Autentic dalmatian restaurant 15 minutes from the seaside on the hilltop near Buje. They have a variety of beefsteaks grilled on fire. The most prestigious steak is the one with white truffels, it is served in the autumn when it has the season, so we tried it with the black truffels which was also amazing. Reservation is recommended.

Thin crusty pizza, prepared in wood oven. Fresh basil, organic garlic, extravirgin olive oil. Interior that makes you wanna stay. Forever.
This pizzeria, my favourite in Zagreb, never leaves me disappointed. Besides pizza that is always excellent, the staff can't be more polite. ☺ if you like pizza with thin crust and delicous toppings of high quality, this will soon become your favourite pizza, too. ?

We have been at this place for a very nice dinner. Even though we're not convinced vegetarians we really enjoyed the great food, hummus with naan, penne arrabiata and truffle pasta were just great.
The staff was very friendly.
The place is not directly in the center so you sit outside without a lot of people passing by your table.
Highly recommended

A place to visit during your vacation in Rovinj. Here You can relax with a glass of the best local wines, tapas made only from local ingredients and the best istrian olive oils.
We so enjoyed our dinner at Barba Danilo. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxing, the service superb and every dish perfectly executed. The sea bass carpaccio appetizer was melt in your mouth outstanding and the seafood pasta and duck main courses were perfect. the chocolate mousse with carmelized almonds will long be remembered. If you have a car, this is less than a 10 minute drive from Rovinj and well worth the excursion.
