This is generally a "student restaurant" and the food quality here is average to low. I didn't like my meal here. The prices are low which corresponds to a lower quality of food and preparation.

The first impression is not good because it is in the 1st floor above a supermarcet. But anyway: it is a recommendable location. Friendly staff and a typical ambiance. The variety of dishes is a little confusing. Perfect, if you stay in the "Ilmenauer Hof" Hotel, because it is in the floor above.

The hike from downtown Ilmenau takes about an hour give or take, but is absolutely worth it. The view from the top of Lindenberg is great, and inside you get simple traditional food like Rostbraetel. You are well advised to call ahead and check if the place will be open as there are some complaints by locals about unreliable opening days. Monday and Tuesday are official closing days.

We came to this place for dinner on a nice evening after a rainy day, so the Terrace was almost empty. Great view of the city from here. Nice German food for an acceptable price.

This restaurant tries to lure clients with an offering from many kitchens: pizza and pasta, Döner, indian and even mexican food. But the name is indian and the waiter was also from indian roots, so we went in and ordered indian food. Big mistake.
We had two soups and two curry dishes, all of which were very far from indian. Parsley was used instead of coriander, nothing was hot, and the spicing was very weak and uninteresting. The pieces of chicken were dry and tasteless.
The service was however okay and relatively quick, and prices were reasonable (7-8 Euro for a main dish) but still not worth the money. Keep away...

The atmosphere is relaxing, with ambient Indian music, dimmed light and decoration of Indian tradition. Very quiet and peaceful.
The food is well spiced, very very special and tasety. I ordered Chicken Tika, Chick peas and spicy lamb meat and enjoy every second!
The smooth white Indian beer I ordered was also a good surprise.
This was really a festival of tastes!
Recommend to visit and enjoy every minute.

Going for a hike till kickelhahn can be little tiring at times but the warm welcome and delicious german cuisine at Gaststätte Kickelhahn up there makes the trip worth every step. Ambience is unparalleled as the scenic view of the valley can fill more life into ones moments.
If you are somewhere near ilmenau, then Kickelhahn and this little restaurant up there is worth a visit.

Good and very tasty food, but what I like the most is pension ( just several rooms) and how they serve breakfast. You are down - and table with breakfast is waiting for you.
