There are two shops in Gyula that offer the same, extremely delicious cakes. This one has perhaps a greater variety, for example they've got my personaly favorite: different types of Rétes as well. Handcrafted chocolate and ice cream is also part of the charm.
This being said, if you only have time to visit one of the cake shops, I'd recommend the Százéves Cukrászda instead, because of the royal atmosphere and the much nicer waiters.

They have great ice cream and pralines. We did not like cakes that much.
Place is beautiful for early morning walk and enjoying in the garden with cafe, ice cream and newspapers :). Indoor is amazing as well. Staff was polite. English is a general issue in Guyla, so you have to get used to it.

This place seems like built in a medieval castle . Even if it was full, the service was good and quick. The meal was excellent, in good tradition of the Austro-Hungarian cuisine . Will surely come back if we"ll be in Gyula again

We were 5 at a dinner and have eaten several meals. Some of them were good and some were not so good…
The soups were ok.
The trout was excellent, but the potato as side dish was partly raw.
But the brassói aprópecsenye was just terrible. May be it wanted to be classical, but it was so greasy that my daughter became ill of it.
Draft beer range is very limited (we drank staropramen, which was poor quality).
Moreover we had to listen all long to a terrible, primitive music.

Unfortunately we were not satisfied at all. We had quite high expectation due to the reviews on TripAdvisor but the restaurant did not manage to meet the expectation.
There is no atmosphere at all, food was not bad but neither very good and definitely the service should be better.
You can find much better place to eat in Gyula as we have found too.

Lively wine bar in the middle of Gyula, a popular and beautifull spa town. Open daily and late at the weekends. Modern music, the place to be seen.
It was refreshing to find a brand new contemporary wine bar right in the middle of this magic spa town. Great lighting and sound system with a British famous DJ (Prominence) at the weekends, who incidentally is the owner. Well worth spending a few hours sampling the many wines on the Terrace or many bars and sofa's. We did and will be back for sure, but make sure you get there early at the weekends as it gets packed.

The garden in the back is quite nicely arranged and gives you a relaxing vibe. The local meals were delicious, especially the gulyas soup. However, the pizza 4 formaggi was not very good. The waiting time for ordering and receiving our foods and drinks was good and the waiter was very polite.
