Went to Canico just to see what it was like as staying in Funchal. Fancied a drink and decided to stop here, as it had outside Seating. Was really nice and enjoyed watching the crabs in the tank moving around and the fish on offer for a main meal. Would have liked to be staying so could have had dinner. However, just had a drink but the waiter brought us some complimentary tapas, cod croquettes, that were really unexpected and very nice. Was very friendly and made us wish we could return in an evening. Definitely worth a visit if staying near Canico. Nice style too

Best we had in the area everything on both of plates was delicious The scabbard was honestly the best fish I’ be tasted, sweet potato, chips and fresh salad in abundance
Don’t miss trying the traditional bread for starter comes with 4 accompiments in little dishes tuna feta, garlic butter and olives
Also amazing large gin and tonic with all the aromatics added plenty
of ice in a proper gin glass
Our waiter Roy polite friendly and couldn’t do enough for in a professional way credit to the restaurant
Lovely to sit late November evening feeling warm and listening and watching the ebbing of the sea was an added bonus
Very busy and popular restaurant

Best steak I had in Canico it was cooked just the way I asked and was very tender and tasty. It was also extremely reasonably priced. I also had the garlic prawns which were absolutely fantastic would highly recommend them. Great food excellent value

Nice setting and generally helpful staff but empty so no atmosphere and the food was okay! Depends what you chose apparently the chicken kebab was good (older teenager) the spare ribs came without and sauce so bland and a bit chewy. The tuna steak cooked well done so again dry. Prices good though so may be worth a try if you check how items are cooked etc prior to ordering.

We ate here several times and enjoyed every visit. Our waiter, Carlos and his colleagues were very welcoming, helpful and attentive. Menu has a good range with a number of local specialities and very nice home made desserts. Quality very good. Some of the best service I've experienced. Highly recommended.

After what seemed like climbing Everest we got to Fados. A couple of cold beers soon helped and the blue sea view was brilliant. We ordered a garlic bolo da caco to start which came with a plate of olives, local cheese and tomato. Very nice and unexpected. Next a large pan of lapas(limpets), hot buttery and more garlic. Followed by beef steak skewer with veg potatoes and salad and a grilled fish with banana and passion fruit.
We shared a dessert of crepes bananas and vanilla ice cream, a coffee and a Madeira. €40. Good value really. Cheaper can be found but very tasty.

Visited this bar at numerous times of the day. They serve good coffee. The White House wine is very good. olives are served with your drinks.
It is busy around 5pm for afternoon drinks. But have always managed to get a table.
It can be a very lively place in the evening. DJ playing outside attracts the locals.
The burgers are very good. But unfortunately they have changed the tuna salad for the New Year and it lacks taste. Will be giving that a miss on my next visit. Great place shame someone thinks tuna with boiled potatoes and lettuce is a tasty plate of food! Why change something which was good?
Friendly efficient waiters.

Taken here by friends who live nearby.
Watch Brazilian cuts of meat cooked on wood-fired stoves. Steak, picanha, chicken, ribs. All massive portions with chips and salad.
Good Portuguese red wine.
Amazing wine cellar displayed within the restaurant. Huge collection of gins.
Four people, drinks at the bar , bolo de caco, more meat than we could eat, beers++, Rives pink gin and tonic, lavishly served with strawberries and cardamom pods, two glasses red wine, massive vodka and tonic... €77. Bargain.

Heartily recommended. Not immediately stunning to look at, but pleasant Terrace with a seaview.
Friendly, welcoming and informative staff.
Food we saw all looked excellent. We had prego Sandwich which was fantastic ( and much better than one we had eaten in Funchal) we also tried poncho (we'd been told that there is "tourist poncha" and "real poncha" I think that poncha here os definitely "real"
Definitely a good choice in Canico.

Visited the restaurant as it was advertised as specializing in steak. However my T Bone steak was not cooked as I had asked as was of very poor quality. Would not return
