Cambridge might be best known for its university, home to some of the world’s greatest minds (Milton, Darwin, Hawking, etc.). But there’s a vibrant theater and arts scene here as well, and you’ll find fantastic contemporary restaurants mixed in with traditional pubs. Climb the tower of Great St. Mary’s Church for sweeping views of the city.

Open for dinners , Tuesdays - Saturdays from 6.30pm . Independent Restaurant , which is Situated inside The Gonville Hotel , Gonville Place , Cambridge , CB11LY , Mid January 2017 . We source the best quality Meat, Fish , Vegetables and products. 5-7 Housemade breads daily changing. Minimum three courses menu . Traditional , handcrafted style , from Masterchef ( Kuchen meister ) Hans Schweitzer and his brigade. Desserts a speciality , Signature dish - 'The Chocolate Piano ' designed and created by Luciano Pavarotti .
Cotto serves beautiful food, well-prepared and presented with flair. Mains are a little more traditional than the more inventive starters and desserts, but all our dishes including fresh trout, veal kidney & sweetbreads, and a creative 'Chocolate Piano' were outstanding. On a busy Saturday night, service was professional but approachable, and the ambiance was peaceful. Strongly recommended.

With its divine location right on the River Cam, Midsummer House is among East Anglias best restaurants. Once youve finished punting down the river and taking in the sights and sounds of the beautiful university city of Cambridge, pay Midsummer House a visit. Relaxed and elegant, with a sunny conservatory and perfect al fresco dining for warm summer evenings, this modern British restaurant offers a wide range of creative dishes with a sophisticated touch learned by Chef Patron Daniel Clifford throughout his years in Britain and Frances best restaurants. Passionate about ingredients, Clifford even uses the harvest from Midsummer Houses own 80 year old apple trees in his cookery.
Yes, the food is amazing. And the we chose the ‘Round the World’ flight of wines, which were also delicious.
And maybe, to be expected.
We had a table right next to the kitchen which was brilliant too, to be able to see the team at work behind the glass.
But no good without great service and they have that in abundance.
Jean-Francois is hugely knowledgeable, friendly and hilarious, running a very attentive team, making a great evening a very memorable one.
The cheese board was generous, we were given chocolates to take home. The little touches ...
Can’t wait to go back.....
(The Trip Advisor app does not work well so I have been unable to rate service, food and value. All five star.)

We are an independent restaurant offering modern British with European influences. Served by a professional team in a relaxed atmosphere.
Visited this restaurant on Mother’s Day and it really was lovely. Excellent food, comfortable surroundings and great customer service. The waiting staff were very personable especially the man who was really helpful and friendly and certainly knew how to treat the customers. Would definitely return and would definitely recommend.

Since its inception in 1986, Taj Tandoori has been providing locals, students and visitors of the Cherry Hinton road area of Cambridge, with the exotic culinary delights that can only be found from the rich heritage of the Indian sub continent. Our goal is to put our customer first whether it is dining in at the restaurant, ordering a Takeout meal or catering for that ever special event. Our menu offers a wide range of both traditional and contemporary dishes influenced by the many different regions of South Asia in striking yet informal surroundings. The intense flavours and pungent aromas that come from our dishes are created from the use of only the freshest of ingredients. With an abundant choice of foods ranging from street food favourites, tandoori grills and many regional curries, the only problem you will encounter is what to choose! We are one of the very few if not only restaurant in Cambridge that has a BYO alcohol policy. This gives you the freedom to choose which wine or beer to bring to your meal and also saves you from paying high restaurant prices for your alcohol! We also provide for in-house parties, banquets, buffets, weddings and various other outdoor catering events in the UK.
Everything we ate was delicious, the staff were so friendly and polite, and the interior is lovely. The portions were generous and the staff were happy to pack up leftovers to go home with. Would absolutely recommend, favourite Indian restaurant in Cambridge so far.

The recent advice and reviews exactly mirror my feelings about the Clarendon Arms. It is a proper well kept back street pub. That means it is fairly small and intimate and has a good range of ales; we had Greene King but I do not know if they are a GK pub. We had Sunday Lunch and the selection is small and I can only comment on the lamb which was slightly ping; just the way I like it, but not to everyone's taste. Again, I took the advice from previous reviewers and booked. This was prudent as the place was packed. I booked on the Sunday morning and got a response which, to my mind is good customer service. The crumble we all had for dessert was really brilliant and was topped off with home made custard. All in all a great meal. When you pay the bill it might seem a tad expensive but remember this is near the centre of Cambridge; so Cambridge prices apply. On a last note, there is resident parking on the street and parking in general in the area is difficult so you need to be on foot or think about a parking strategy. I parked in the Grafton Centre which is not too far away to walk.

A little gem - slipped inside for a late lunch at 3.30, plenty of room to choose preferred airplane seat. Dozens of bread/filling choices on the menu board. Went for a stonking chicken & bacon on granary sarny plus smoked salmon as salad option rather than Sandwich for my wife, each with generous green salad and sharp mustard coleslaw. Took the meal deal so got lunchboxes, local crisps and drinks for two for fifteen something. Expected an average Sandwich but got a delicious filling meal. Cowlings for tables and other airline & retro/vinyl paraphernalia make for a fun venue. Very nice very friendly staff. Near the end of but still on the beaten track. If they still do the King Street Run you should make this your food stop/beer break (don't think it's licensed).

Independent Cambridge eatery. Straightforward, unfussy menu is far from ordinary, hot roast meat sandwiches top the bill, alongside soups and salads all cooked on-site with the best of ingredients, ethically and locally sourced. A relaxed atmosphere awaits, where you can enjoy our favourite beers, wines, fresh coffee and tea.
We came across this place when we visited the Corn Exchange theatre. Oh my word what a find. The special was Meatball Sandwich in sourdough. It was just divine. The meatballs were cooked to perfection in a tomato and mozzarella sauce. Seriously to die for. Not a massively wide menu but there’s something for everyone. The place is quirky and a lovely atmosphere. Can definitely recommend and will go back in the future.

We are an informal Italian restaurant and we love to prepare food as our granny taught us. Our dishes are simple and tasty. Portions are generous but if you're still hungry you shouldn't hesitate to ask for more. If you're looking for a fancy restaurant with a novella cuisine our place is not the right one, but if you want to feel at home and have a good portion of pasta or a well cooked pizza, than this is your place.
We enjoyed flavourful Italian food at this great little restaurant obviously popular with the locals. The pizzas are rectangular and can come as full or half’s; tried the Mamma pasta with Italian sausage and mushroom and it was divine. You are looked after here with the service better every time we come.

We serve the finest Indian food in the town. Our professional team of chefs gained experience from authentic Indian kitchens in India to Taj group and few highly noted restaurants in London.
Party of 15 including 1 child. Lunchtime attendance. Rest of restaurant closed. Food was excellent but expensive. Wait between courses was lengthy. All guuests had the same dishes. Would like to go back as a regular customer rather than as part of a party to see if service is any quicker.
