Set between Milan and Verona at the foot of the Alps, Brescia is the second-largest city in Italy’s northern Lombardy region, with just under 200,000 people. The city’s rich history dates back to pre-Roman times, when it was a Gallic capital. Among the many great local sights are the 11th-century Duomo Vecchio (Old Cathedral, also called La Rotonda), unique for its circular shape, the 17th-century Duomo Nuovo (New Cathedral) next door, and the first-century Roman ruins at Tempio Capitolino.

During a very hectic business trip my host took the time to bring us to Scarabeo, which was quite a nice treat. The food was excellent, the people friendly, and it is a very attractive dining and bar area. It provided an excellent respite from a stressful week and was very much appreciated. I would go out of my way to go again.

Our second visit to this trattoria who would deserve some star in the Michelin guide. From the street you wonder what kind of restaurant you are about to find. After the owner has helped you to park the car you get into the dining room and you understand something is happening there. The food is exquisite and refined, the service very well educated and trained, the small intentions before and after the meal are delicious... Not to miss !

The dinner Benvenuto Primavera with three chefs was very badly organized. A welcoming drink outside where there was quite a cold breeze lasted too long. The room for the appetizers was too small for the amount of guests and therefore took too long. The first dish served at table was at 10 p.m. which is much too late. The first dish was excellent (the Smoky Trout), however, from there on the meal got much worse. The pasta of the ravioli was much too thick and chewy. The meat course was terrible to the taste buds. Fassona tartare steamed slightly covered in oyster sauce and then grated powdered caviar was a mixture of flavours which was very displeasing (to say the least) to the taste buds. Not a mixture which should be repeated. It was then difficult to leave early because the receipts had not been printed even though it was a fixed price meal. Somebody should seriously give a second look at the organization of this restaurant.

On a recent visit to Brescia to watch the Mini Miglia car rally/race, I came across this charming restaurant, Antica Trattoria del Ponte.
What a delight to have a choice of superb regional and traditional Italian food served in pleasant surroundings by very helpful, friendly and capable staff.
Excellent food - Excellent value. I will definitely return.

This amazing country always gives me reasons to like itself. Especially about food.
It was the first time I've been there. We tried many things and we liked all what we had.
I also liked the place itself, ambiance and the service.
I left that restaurant with very satisfied feeling. I'm going to take a part of Italy with myself.

Nice little restaurant; serves mostly seafood. Everything we tasted was well prepared and presented. Staff is really kind (the served me twice of each wine, although just one glass of wine per course was included in the menu). Table are nicely decorated. I just would suggest to pay more attention to bread (not up to the situation) and desserts.

It is true, we all write reviews of hotels and restaurant we visit and so often do we complain – this time however it is different. In fact it ss my first contribution to Tripadvisor and I wanted it to be a good one. Travelling from Bologna to Milan we stayed the night in Brescia and found our way to La Bottega di Vittorio Ristorante. The restaurant is owned by two brothers who play an active role in both the restaurant as well as the kitchen. We had fantastic sliced meats, a risotto as good as a risotto should be, a vitello tonato of very high quality and we finished with self made coconut and chocolate ice cream. This place deserves your visit!

Il Lorenzaccio is a nice little restaurant in an unassuming location. The ambience is very cosy, more ressembling a living room than a restaurant. The menu features hearty Italian cusine with a twist, but at moderate prices. Everything we had was very nice. The service was competent and very friendly, recommending an excellent and inexpensive local wine. English menus are available upon request.
So if in Brescia and looking for a restaurant with Italian food more ambitious than your normal trattoria, take a taxi and visit Il Lorenzaccio. You won't regret it.

Workshop born in 1996 that goes back to the traditional "piadina" making. A typical middle-east Italian speciality, it's a flat unleavened flat-bread griddle baked and stuffed with salty or sweet ingredients. The kitchen daily produces handmade "piadina" without lactose, yeast, eggs or baking soda, hand-finished, flat, baked and stuffed at the moment. Only made in Italy high and certified quality raw materials used. Vegan option in the menu. Lists of: beers, water and olive oil.
Found myself 5 minutes walk from the #1 out of 824 snack places in Brescia - it was a no-brainer. Great decision. Early evening, the place was busy but the service was fast and friendly. Her English was way better than my Italian. Magnificent piada with extremely fresh ingredients. Mouth-wateringly good. Washed down with a great San Pedro Venecian ale. I'll be back, don't miss this place for a great snack.
