Brazzaville (French pronunciation: [bʁazavil]) is the capital and largest city of the Republic of the Congo and is on the north side of the Congo River, opposite Kinshasa. Its population is estimated to exceed 1.8 million. Over a third of the population of the Republic of Congo lives in the capital, and it is home to 40% of non-agricultural employment. It is also a financial and administrative capital.

Most guest stick to the small patio which lacks atmosphere except the menu which is designed as a newspaper. They serve mostly imported products like sole, saumon, canard and the sole which I tried was not very tasty probably cos it came frozen to Brazza. The same with the salmon with curry sauce which my friend tried. You can go there but don't expect culinarian highlights.

We came to Brazzaville for only three days, from Kinshasa. We mainly wanted to see Kinshasa from the other side and see a few landmarks of its neighbor. On the second day, after visiting the Basilique Saint-Anne, we hopped on one of these ubiquitous green taxis and asked the driver to bring us to a good restaurant. He brought us to Mami Wata.
A "mami wata" is a mermaid in Lingala, the local language. The restaurant is in front of the Congo River. We can also see Kinshasa, on the other side, but it is not close-by, the river is very large here, about two miles wide. The restaurant is very beautiful, with an astounding terrasse, a garden and several fine mermaid paintings. The service is excellent. The waitress was kind, smiling, focused and very polite. I ordered pasta with seafood. My friend ordered a salted fish (poisson salé) with pondu. We had barely started to talk and delight at the stunning atmosphere that she came back with our dishes. We took our time to eat. It was delicious. And in the end we paid less than 20 USD per person...
In other words, if you are in Brazzaville for a few days, Mami Wata is definitely a restaurant you shouldn't miss. I would like to warn you about the mosquitoes though. There are many plants and trees on one side of the restaurant. If you sit on that side, you might be bothered by mosquitoes (even in the daytime). I advise you to wear a pair of trousers and long sleeves or to bring mosquito repellent. Or just sit on the other side!

For those who want to discover the congolese cuisine, this place is a must. The garden, where guests are sitting, is a quiet bubble in a noisy neighborhood. The food is copious and delicious and Mama RO is a warm and welcoming person. You should preferably go in group to this wonderful restaurant to taste all the food that Mama RO will cook for you!

Situated in a home turned into a restaurant where you can either sit indoors or in a large open air garden makes for a pleasant experience. The food is good and expensive making this one of the costlier places to eat in the city.

Filo Tempo is an excellent Italian restaurant but difficult to find in a side road of Av.Nelson Mandela. The Terrace especially is a pleasant place with the lovely arranged plants. The antipasti and the fish I ordered where delicious so the letter could have some more deco for my eyes.Service was friendly. Probably most products are imported from Italy.

If you want Moroccan or Lebanese food, the Oriental on the Crystal Palace hotel's grounds is excellent. I took the 7 vegetables lamb couscous: it was perfect!

Very popular with expats makes this a popular dining option. But the food is rich and heavy. Still there are many who come here week after week craving Indian food in this Asian cuisine starved city.

Begin your day with a hearty breakfast, and then return for lunch and dinner at this all-day dining Brazzaville restaurant. With gourmet a la carte options and a generous buffet, guests are able to choose from a variety of salads, starters, main dishes and desserts. Enjoy specialties like medallions of beef with caramelized onions, grilled fish with lemon butter sauce and stuffed capsicum. The M'Bamou Lounge, located in the lobby area, offers tea, coffee, whiskies, wines, vintage champagnes, liqueurs and cocktails.
In my experience, Brazzaville is not a city for gourmet lovers. Radisson Blu is a very niece exception to that rule. Just before I left to return to Europe I decided to enjoy a good meal at the Radisson Blu, and boy did I make a good decision. I had an piece of Impale, which was cooked to perfection for me. Great meat, with an excellent sauce. The only down side was the price, which was on the high side, but worth every penny.
Next time I am in Brazzaville I will go again to this restaurant!

The authentic Italian trattoria in Brazzaville Opening hours: Monday to Sunday from 12 pm to 3 pm / 7 pm to 11.30 pm The dishes are designed with fresh seasonal products, carefully selected from local and international producers. We have a selection of the best European wines to accompany your meal.
The restaurant is located inside the Pefaco Maya Maya Hotel, which is 5 minutes walking distance from the airport. The Italian food there is top of class in my opinion. I had raviolis and they were excellent.
