The Obere Muhle is an extremely interesting old farmhouse with an attached museum, antiques shop and cheese/dairy outlet but did not live up to its reputation the night we visited. The restaurant is an interesting old building which retains a great deal of cultural charm but we were disappointed with the service and the food.
Service: Lacked the attentiveness that you would expect of a restaurant which charges high prices, resulting in us sitting with empty drinks for a considerable period.
Food: Just not up to the standard expected post Reading some of the reviews here. The starter of Cheese Soup was really good and well worth having but both mains were below par being extremely salty and lacking in any vegetables. Given the cost of a main then you do not receive value for money when compared to the local area and what other outlets provide.
Will we visit again: unfortunately no as the whole experience was not as expected.

My husband and I have stopped here several times both Summer and Winter. It's a great little place with super food (the best currywurst and goulash soup going). The decor is charming, like a hunter's cabin. Love it!

This little gem in the middle of Sonthofen is as traditional as Bavaria gets! from its spacious typical décor to wenches in traditional dress. We were welcomed with a smile and English menus. The big bonus, it's the local brewery as well and the beer is to die for, so much so that I ended up drinking from a stein hick! Hirsch gold was my favourite but there are so many others as well. Food was hearty and plentiful as you'd expect. Faultless!

We ate here two evenings as part of our hotel stay. Regional food, well prepared. Service a bit slow but friendly. Decent wine list favoring local wines. Can get quite busy--make sure to reserve if not staying in hotel.

Enjoyed a family lunch in the sun with my grandchildren. The food was excellent for both adults and children. We had typical Bavarian dishes including a huge lemon and sugar pancake served in an enormous frying pan - a dish the three adults shared. We sat outside in the garden, which contained climbing frame and swings, next door to a typical white Bavarian church. Bliss

Spent a lovely afternoon here with friends. Very friendly and welcoming staff. We sat next to the very attractive modern fire, and much admired the interior decoration. Did not eat, but the food looked very good.Dear Susannah, Thank you for your great review. We are very pleased that you liked so much the stay. A lovely weekend. Best wishes Family Lerch & Team

A classy proper Italian haven amongst the sausage-fest alternatives, that does great pizza. The service was very polite and efficient, and the bill surprisingly excellent value. I wanted to go back for lunch, but sadly it was only open in the evening when I was in the area.

Yesterday we rode the cable car to the top of Hornbahn from Bad Hindelang.
Reading the signs for different trails that can be walked, we chose to walk to Horn Cafe about 3/4 hour.
There were no cars parked outside of the cafe (in the middle of nowhere), but ventured in and were surprised to see quite a few walkers out in the Sunshine enjoying beers or coffees.
Although very little English spoken by the waitress, the service was pleasant, coffees lovely and the yummiest apple cake.
The walk to here was lovely ..... through pine Forests, meadows, past cows with their beautiful sounding bells.
We then ventured further by walking down to Bad Hindelang.
