Went to the restaurant because of it rating here, on Tripadvisor.
After beein there, we saw that the locals as well as the people from Lisbon, queue up at other places in the surrounding area.
Don peixe has a very fast and nice staff. Food is average and prices, not too high.
For 16 Euros/person, we have a frugal meal.
Don't recoment this place for the food.
Just the evironment is excellent.

The place is located near the Alcochete beach and its very basic when it comes to decoration or comfort, as the interior looks like a big fisherman's house... The food it's good, and the fish it's fresh and cooked perfectly! I recommend the "Choco Grelhado sem tinta", all sliced with olive oil and a few potatoes... Very good! We tried as well the barbeque chicken (Frango à Lála) and we were disappointed with the size as it was kind of small by the Portuguese standards... The staff serving tables aren't that friendly!

Alcochete 2890-152
Visited for lunch... fried rabbit rice with chips just sumptuous and kids had beef steak (very tender) with chips, egg and rice. Followed by chocolate mousse and 'doce de casa' (typical creamy dessert with custard and biscuit - divine). Washed down with jug of wonderful sangria and ice teas for kids, with obligatory espresso coffees to finish!! Wonderful meal by the river on edge of town with attentive, warm and helpful service... definitely going again.

My wife and I had a fantastic meal here while staying with my mother in law who lives in Alcochete. There is an 'open' kitchen, allowing you - if you so wish - to watch your choice of dishes being cooked. We had clams (ameijoas), red mullet (salmonetas) and fried cuttlefish (chocos). Everything was fresh, very well cooked and delicious. The home made bread and green wine (vinho verde) were great accompaniments too! This is a restaurant where you go for a more formal setting, with first class service and excellent food. We will definitely return on our next trip to Portugal.

I have been coming here for over 20 years.
This family owned restaurant has always been my top choice (sometimes weekly choice) for fresh, grilled to perfection seafood.
You can order anything, all is fresh, caught the day before, the real catch of the day.
And all is sea caught, not those harvested in some pool, fed like pork or chickens to feed the masses.
Let the owner guide you thru the seafood on display and you won't regret it, you'll have some of the best seafood you have ever had.

Arrived at the restaurant too early at 6:45 pm, so we enjoyed a few beers before being shown into the dining room at 7:30 pm. Many guests showed up between 8 pm and 8:30 pm. We were served by an extremely friendly and knowledgeable server who spoke French but could have provided us with someone who spoke English. We enjoyed an excellent meal of grilled fish (Robalo Grelhado) and escalope chicken. For dessert we had to-die-for chocolate pie and a delicious type of mocha cheesecake. The restaurant is decorated in a matador theme. Meal for two including wine, desserts and two beers was 37 euros

We were travelers during the week after Christmas. Many of the favored restaurants were closed for the holiday. We tried Al Foz and found that that it was pretty good. I think it is under new ownership or at least has a new chef, because all six of us had really fine meals. All had some kind of fish and I wish I could recall the dishes, but I was happy with one of the Chef choices. Wine was really good too. I did not pay the check, so I am sorry I do not have a lot of detail. Just know that we gave it a try and we were pleased.
