We thought it would be just a short trip around the place where Pope John Paul II was born and wondered what would last 70 minutes.
Well in addition to the three rooms remaining from his birthplace in the museum there is a wonderful modern and sophisticated museum that takes you through his whole life and the way he influenced people around the world.
Fantastically interesting and exceeded our expectations beyond doubt.
Initially what was just a detour to Krakow by car from Zakopane turned out to be one of our highlights in Poland .
Great guided tour and it costs just 7 Euros.
Recommended for Catholics, non Catholics and everyone really - fantastic insights into one of the most influential men of the 20th Century.

I was quite surprise to know that not many of my Polish friends know about this place. Nevertheless, my little ones loved the park very much. The park itself consists of multiple attractions which are very enjoyable. Miniature park is the one that we loved so much. It has miniature landmarks from across the globe, and we took picture on each of them. The theme park and the castle are not suitable for kids below 5 years old in my opinion, but still it provided new experience for all of us. A bit disappointed with the Zoo, as we were told it will only take less than 5 mins walk (we were late for the train to the zoo), but eventually it took more, and we were too tired when we reached the zoo. Overall, new experience, lots of fun, and i would recommend this.

Minor Basilica of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the most important religious building in Wadowice, a town located in the south part of Poland and where Pope Johannes Paulus II was born. In fact, in this church the Pope was baptized and probably it was the church, where the Pope, when he was a child, went to pray. For this reason, this church is very known in the zone. In fact, the birthplace of Pope is next to this Basilica. The front of the church is very high and impressive from the bottom. Also the inner part is beautiful.

A park with lots of Dinosaur figures, with its actual size, and was made very realistic. There are also other attractions that can keep your kids busy, e.g. flying fox, trampolines, etc. Restaurant and ice cream parlor are within the vicinity for refueling purpose. Entrance fee is very reasonable. This is a good place to visit with kids.

the square that lies beautifully before the home of john Paul II is breathtaking! there are restaurants and shops all around the square and a nice Fountain that lights up at dark. it's a good place to hangout while waiting for your turn to tour the home of the saint pope.

This place was a real blast. The layout, quality and condition of the park was excellent.
First, the miniature park was very well executed, the greenery well tended and the models well made. Through a turnpike you enter, firstly a fantasy medieval world with various animated dragons dotted about until you come up to a reconstruction of a medieval castle with its attendant blacksmith, weaver and rope maker in thatched huts nearby. In the three previously mentioned places you could go in and watch, and take part in, the making of a hook, or steel heart shape at the blacksmith, work on a simple loom at the weaver's, and make a length of string at the rope maker - fascinating stuff. Adjoining the huts and the castle is a cave within which resides a large, green, animated dragon, and on the hour, every hour, he, she, or it, comes out, raises its head, starts talking, then sings a ridiculous song (probably to stop the wee ones from having nightmares) and gives you a blast of fire from its mouth....the kids loved it.
Then, on to the castle itself. There is an armoury with a completely pointless 'show' featuring mannequins in armour, taped voices (in Polish) and coloured lights - waste of time. The rest of the castle was interesting to explore, everything was well made, well executed and clean. The restaurant in the castle was above average, and surprisingly good value for money.
All in all, a great day out for the family, and the kids will love the dragon.
Highly recommended

We came across this monument at Plac Solidarnosci, on our way to Restaurant Ogrodowa a while back. It was so different from other monuments that I have seen.It was unveiled on the 22nd of April 2010 to commemorate the victims of the Katyn massacre. On the monument are the names of 250 victims in alpabetical order. At the base of the monument are hands tied with barded wire holding bullets. It is made of steel & bronze & is 3.72 meters high & 2.6 meters wide. It was designed by Marek Brzezniak.
