Praiano (Italian pronunciation: [praˡjaːnɔ]) is a town and comune of the province of Salerno in the Campania region of southwest Italy. It is situated on the Amalfi Coast (Costiera Amalfitana), a prime tourist location for the region and Italy alike, between the towns of Amalfi and Positano.

We spent a day In Praiano. We enjoyed the town, the beach and this beautiful Church. It has a very pretty domed altar, and marble floors. The domed tower is very unique and colorful, we saw it on the horizon on the day we were on the water.

We spent a gorgeous sunny day on Praia Beach. The water is a beautiful teal green. They have sun lounges for rent and the water is calm and warm. The rocks are very painful though! Make sure you bring water shoes. There are some great restaurants and a few stores for shopping.

I really didn't think the convent was terrible, just to comment on the hike, we are pretty fit, mid-60's, but didn't make it. I think maybe half way. It was a lovely walk, but when we hit the last set of ascending stairs we decided it was not worth a heart attack! LOL. Wished we could've made it. Got some great pictures on the hike anyway.

Praiano is unlike any town that I have ever visited. Largely untouched by tourism, the town comprises mainly steps and passages, punctuated by renderings of Luca Evagelista, unusual "gardens", fruit and vegetable patches on every conceivable flat space and unique gates and doors. Just wander and get lost, if the steps have black grill covered lights at ankle level, or public-style lighting or a cream sign with green lighting it's a public "street". Wear comfortable shoes and enjoy!

You have to be here to see locals going to church around 5:30 p.m. everyday, there is a small square outside where you can sit and watch locals play soccer, talk to them and even play with them or take pictures. It's great to be here in the afternoon after the sun goes down, still some people come out of their houses to mingle, nive experience when in Praiano.

Can swim in or even better kayak. Be a little careful if there is much surge that day. If you get in far enough you can see the Emerald glow touted by the other grottoes.

We stumbled across this by accident as my boyfriend pointed out that there were signs to an art studio so we strolled up one morning after breakfast and I can safely say it was the highlight of the trip. The torre itself is 800 years old and guarded by two goats but for the last 30 years has been the studio for the artist Paolo Sandulli whose whimsical pieces of artwork are displayed throughout the space. He will happily spend some time showing you his incredible work and explaining his inspiration behind it- he's passionate about Praiano and you can't help but get swept up in his enthusiasm. If you want a truly unique and authentic holiday experience on the Amalfi Coast go here.

This is a very scenic walk down from the Bella vista hotel to the old Saracen watchtower and small beach. It's 500 steps down from the main road but not too strenuous and beautiful views all the way.
