Ganaraska Forest

Myself & a large of party of friends did the horse riding trail through this forest which was a stones throw away from Maple Crescent Farm (who was running the trail). The beautiful Fall leaves & cooler weather made this a very interesting ride. You're surrounded by sheer beauty, vastness & tranquillity in this forest, so a good place to just go, sit, clear your mind & thoughts and be as one with nature.
I would definitely like to return in the fall & during the Winter months to see it at a visual contrast.

Art Emporium by the River

The Art Emporium by the River is an eclectic and relaxed approach to the entire artistic experience. It is an environment that is a little irreverent, a little goofy but with an openness that attempts to display aspects of artistic expression intrinsic in art no matter the fame.

A superb gallery in the heart of Port Hope. Really enjoyed the variety of artists (some of which were locals) and mix of different of types of art there. Paintings, sculptures and photos adore the walls of this lovely space. Robert was very kind and gave my wife and I personal tour of the galleries. It's a great attractive for art lovers and with the varied price points it makes it feel welcoming and not pretentious. I'll be returning as they plan on changing up the pieces once a month!

Canadian Fire Fighters Museum

Reviewed By thephoenixrisesagain - Toronto, Canada

as a retired Toronto fireman I had to check this out in my retirement. A small but impressive collection well worth the visit. Your kids will love it and volunteer staff are very friendly. Unfortunately they are in a loaned municipal building and are now under the gun to move sometime in 2018. I fear the collection could be lost, split up, or auctioned, if a new place can't be found. They are in need of a huge cash influx from Corporate sponsors, private donors, the Public, municipal, Provincial and Canadian Governments to save this part of our firefighting heritage. IF YOU CAN PLEASE MAKE A DONATION VIA THEIR WEBSITE.

The Port Hope Archive is a great source for information on the area. Want to find out who built your old house and who lived there? Go to the Archives and they'll help you find out! The building is built like a bank vault with heavy walls and vaulted ceilings. It was designed by a prominent 19th century architect.
