is a really interesting impressionist painter. Worth a visit. There are interesting pictures of Parisian society in the nineteenth century. There is a part of the museum that explains the historical context.

A lovely building, too bad you can't take a picture of the entire facade without a special lens. The Cathedral is large and cavernous. It's worth the 15-30 minutes visit.

Castello Svevo di Barletta

this is a great way to spend an hour or two in Barletta. Don't be put off by the woman who has to unlock the upper floor of the museum for you. she obviously does not enjoy her job and sighs and follows you around like a puppy while you look around. I was the only one in the place, but I knew that if I just stuck to my guns and took my time, she would eventually get tired, and find a chair to park herself in, which is exactly what happened. She needs other work! Other than that, though, it is wonderful to be able to explore the fortress, and take in the incredible coastline, and cityscape that surround it.

Little to see as it is mostly covered up. This is likely only to be for a while and in summer it may well be good to see but we saw little of it.

Basilica del Santo Sepolcro

The sepolcro of Barletta is an amazing piece of Apulia romanic art. Little pieces of affresco are still visible behind the altar. The facade has been remodeled in the centuries and is not aligned with the main road. In fact often the entrance is better through the lateral door (porta Santa) instead of the main front door. The giant Eraclio statue protect the side of the church. A must if you love the romanic style.

Canne della Battaglia

We visited the Canne della Battaglia today. If you are using a GPS it should be recorded as a historical landmark rather than a destination. There is a small information centre with exhibits and entry was free to the site even though the signs outside stated an entry fee for those under 65. There is adequate information in Italian and English and we found it very interesting to read and to wander with some great photo opportunities. From the information centre there is a wheelchair friendly path up to the top of the hill where there are loose metal paths. While there are a few stairs it is not a difficult or challenging site to visit. There is a toilet in the information centre and off road car parking directly opposite. Plan to spend around 45 minutes to 1 hour having a wander. There is no gift shop or refreshments for sale, however you are not far from Barletta.

I'm really sorry that such a place, where the winery was established the famous "Challenge of barlettta" between Italian and French knights in 1503 is so little valued: I suggest you read up OK from sources such as Wikipedia (the English version is not good I suggest to translate personally by the Italian WIKI page) times are very limited so you have to read what is on the door.
the place is small and if you do not have access to all information (such as who, what, where, when, why): o) it is useless to visit. good luck.
