The Museum of Cinema in Melgaço holds a collection of french Jean Loup Passek who runned cinema department at Centre Georges Pompidou, in Paris and was Diretor of La Rochelle Cinema Festival. There we can learn about the begining of cinema with some good examples of how motion pictures was made in the end of 19th century and just after Lumiere achivments.

A walk in the woods leading up to the Termas (springs or baths) at Melgação made for a relaxing approach to the Springs themselves, the main Fountain (fonte) of which is housed inside an Art Deco style building built in 1915. We caught the attendant at the Fountain before it closed for the afternoon (typically open in the morning from 9:30 to 12:30, then 15:30 to 18:00), and tasted the nearly salty, mineral-filled, effervescent waters. There are more treatments that you can schedule, or you can stay nearby and take a full "cure," but for me just the after-lunch stroll and walk through the charming building was a welcome respite.

Looking for a great way to add some adventure to your holiday? Melgaco Radical is the way to go. Over the summer my family and I decided to try something new, so we went rafting down the river Minho. We had such an amazing experience. The rafting monitors were super friendly, and the equipment was state of the art. I will be returning very soon!

A small church hiding in the middle of all the Melgaço green. A nice place to stop see the view, walk around and visit the simple but beautiful church. Most of the time the church is closed. The interior it's also simple.

Soalheiro needs to be on any wine tourist's agenda for vinho verde - one of the best and famous producers of this DO. We had a great tour - even during harvest - and tasting; and didn't even book in advance. This is alvarinho at its best and the views from their tasting room is pretty good too. Don't mess around just go.
