The highest motorable village of India(previously) is one of the quitest destination I have visited till date. On the way you would find the Key Monastry with the shrine beauty. And from the village, the picturesque drone view of the meandering river channel.

Just returned from my 1st solo trip to Kaza. So here I am sharing my experience with you all. I won't get into how I felt, what it was like etc etc......that's something one can only feel when there. Hikkim, Komic, Langza, Losar..... All are a must visit.
- Trip: Panchkula - Kalpa - Kaza - Panchkula.
- Vehicle: Creta (Diesel)
- Total distance covered: 1220 Kms
- Duration of trip: 6 days (2N at Kalpa, 3N at Kaza & 1N in transit during my way back).
Suggestions (if planning a self-driven trip in Winters around end of Nov):
- Take lots of warm clothes, and wear in layers. Its extremely dry, windy & cold.
- In case of a Diesel vehicle, do not depend on Anti-gel etc. Keep a Kerosene stove with you (or buy 1 from Kaza market which I did).
- Put high-grade engine oil in your vehicle (fully Synthetic Engine oil). I used 5W-30 which works between -25C to 35C.
- Keep enough food for 3-4 days (in case of emergency) along-with water (although the water bottles froze in Kaza as they were lying in the car overnight).
- Do not rely on your phone for pictures, keep a camera with extra batteries. I couldn't click any pictures in Hikkim, Komic & Langza as batteries of both my phones simply died (0%) as the temp there was around -10C. Or get a Fleece phone cover so that you can keep your phone warm.
- You'll find pretty bad roads between Powari & Pooh, Ka & between Sumdo & Tabo.
- Keep extra days in hand in case you get stuck due to a landslide, snow etc..... these things do happen after Pooh. Although BRO & GREF work round the clock (365 days 9AM thru 5:30PM) but you never know.
- If you are not used to high altitude then see a doc before leaving for your trip & check if you should be having Diamox for AMS.
Feel free to contact me for any questions.

Gue village lies along the Reckong Peo-Kinnaur to Kaza route. After a few kilometres from Sumdo, on the right hand-side a road goes towards the Gue Village, 8kms off the main track & Gue to Kaza is 80kms.A SUV or a Bullet would best do the job. There is no place/hotel to stay at Gue, so its an enroute Kaza trip off the track. The mummy found at Gue is 550 years old. It was found by the I.T.B.P. at Gue village while digging for a border post along China.I suppose its the only mummy found and kept in India & open for public visits.
Have to take a de tour to reach this place but it is worth the effort, specially for the people those who has not seen Mummy in there life , they have made very big monastery and was locked when we reached and we were looking here and there, but the mummy is in a small room next to the big building in a while color room ,
luckily , we saw some ITBP personals , they helped us in getting the room open and have a close look of the mummy.

Komic, a beautiful hamlet at a height of 4500m approx., is one of my favorite places in Spiti. The monastery is simple yet beautiful. The monks are such kind and wonderful people. I also found it quite amusing that the monks gave us mango juice. I promised Tenzing, one of the monks there, that I would go back, and I have every intention of keeping my word!

We drove from Kaza to this village in a Tata Sumo.
Langza Village is a beautiful destination, located in one of the most majestic Valleys in India 'Spiti Valley' in the state of Himachal Pradesh. This picturesque village is blessed with ancient monasteries and buildings of the prehistoric era. It is surrounded by green pastures, snow-clad Mountains and barren landscapes that awe-struck every person who visit this stunning location, which is certainly one of the best places in the whole Spiti Valley. The magic of nature at Langza village leaves everyone speechless.

If one is staying in Kaza, then this monastery is easily accessible & few minutes walking distance from most hotels.
Its a fairly new construction, impressive and has a very pleasant prayer hall were the monks accumulate morning & evening for their prayers. Guests can sit inside the prayer hall for as long as they want, meditating, praying or just as silent spectators.
The monastery has a fairly large courtyard flanked by line of chortens in front.
We were staying at Deyzor hotel, a street across from the monastery & it was great to walk in the morning to the monastery & meditate for a while there.
