Stoneware „Manufaktura” is located in Boleslawiec – city of pottery. Each product is characterized by originality, functionality and high quality. Ceramic ware are made manually, and then fired in a kiln at 1250 degrees, so that they can be used both in the oven, dishwasher and microwave. We invite you for the factory tours and workshops
This is a really fun place, and kids will enjoy it, too, if they're old enough to keep their hands to themselves and be trusted around stacks of breakables. Factory employs 80 women who train for 3 mos to be artists, then are "tenured" if doing OK. They're given only 3 hours to learn to paint most patterns. There are 4 standard patterns all the workshops can use, but others are unique to this factory, and are higher priced. All work is rigidly inspected and Seconds are discounted 30%. Workers are paid on piece work basis, and can earn a good living. Factory only employs 1 man, and he was originally hired as a joke. After the tour, you get to decorate a product of your own, using either/both brushes or stamps - lots of fun! Shop will then glaze it, pack it for shipping and deliver it to your last hotel before leaving Poland.

I absolutely love the pieces we bought from Andy's, they have some of the more unique prints we've found. However, be prepared to spend a little bit more and to have to search for the prints you want. Yes, they have all dishes separated but they are often stacked on top of one another making it so you have to move other pieces in order to get the one you want. Not a deal breaker by any means, but for a clumsy person it could cause a little panic. This is also one of the only places we went that was one room making things a bit tight when there were multiple people. We ended up purchasing 2 coffee cups, a medium fruit bowl, a small christmas ornament, and a butterfly to hang on the wall for about 250 ZL.

I have been to this town may times. Had not been in 15 years. It had changed a lot. They have fixed it up and it is lovely.

If you're short for time I would likely skip this one. Also do not go if large stacks of leaning pottery scare you or if you are clumsy. ;) For myself it was just too cluttered and unorganized, my brain can't deal with that. A couple friends spent quite a bit of time going through stacks but I was afraid I would break things. But if you're in the area with the time, then pop in. It's close to a lot of other stores.

This shop always seems to have a great selection, good prices, and unique pieces. They seemed to. E lacking in inventory the last time I was there, but it wasn't "tourist season", so they probably hadn't restocked. I still found several items I'd been seeking.

We have been coming to Boleslwiec for five years and prices are going up 20-40% at all shops/manufacturers, but for the quality of product I think one can find better deals for first quality items elsewhere. However, the selection and variety of patterns available is very impressive. They also have a bargain tent if you are looking for items 2nd to 4th quality. The staff could be a tad more friendly and helpful. There are many other options, so shop around.

This was an easy way to take a look at the history of pottery in this town, made famous by their hand made ceramic ware. During the Pottery Fair they had lots of opportunities in the outside courtyard for kids to try painting the pottery. It was fun to watch. The museum had lots of labels in English and was not crowded, so was a very enjoyable visit.

This free museum is related to the Ceramics Museum that is located elsewhere in the town. This museum provides a mish-mash of items related to the history of Boleslawiec.
Exhibits have Polish and German descriptions. (No English).
Individual items are often interesting, but there is no real chronological linearity across the items.
Although ok, this would be well down my list of places to visit in Boleslawiec.
