108 Mile Ranch Heritage Site

A wonderful and relaxing historical site. The fabulous wooden ranch buildings are in excellent condition and the large horse barn is worth the stop itself. The site is very tidy, well organized and clean. Nice history and site over all. I'm glad I stopped and took time to meander around the site :-)

Smaller camping area. A little higher up so can get cool in the evenings. You'll want to keep your campsite clean as there are bears in the area. Very relaxing

Stunning visual artist, shows off the splendour of BC to its very best. A keen eye that sees a lot with a single click and captures the beauty and keeps it alive. I felt the wind blowing me along in the canoe. There are numerous magazines that feature his work and they sure inspire to get back to the countryside and visit every chance I get. I had been reminded of this place when we were up in the Wells and Barkerville area, and stopped here on the return journey to Vancouver. Easy to find and a few minutes off the highway.

South Cariboo Visitor Centre

The South Cariboo Visitor Centre is a charming log building and home of the unofficial "World's Largest X-Country Skis". Located along the 100 Mile Marsh, it's a great stop for a picnic and bird watching. For your convenience, restrooms, wireless internet, pay phone, fenced picnic area and tons of information are available to you! Ask a knowledgeable and friendly Visitor Information Counsellor for assistance with local or provincial information and you won't be disappointed! Also enjoy a lovely selection of unique souvenirs and books for sale. We are OPEN year round so stop on by!

Pulled over for a rest stop and what a surprise. Picnic area at back of building, where there's a marsh with lots of birding opportunity. Arrived early Victoria Day weekend and no lineups, staff knowledgeable and eager to advise. But best of all, the massive amount of brochures, maps for all of BC, not just the Cariboo. Makes the Mt. Robson Info Center look amateur. Clean and very good washrooms. Wish all BC Info Centers were this inviting, with great info resources, staff, and nice outside area!

Centennial Park

Reviewed By DX2GO - Medicine Hat, Canada

I'd be willing to bet 99% of those coming through town aren't even aware of this park. We're equally guilty a lot of times about just staying on the main road through towns and missing out. Centennial Park is only a couple of minutes off the highway, and makes for a great break. Even when we stopped in midsummer it was peaceful, and we really enjoyed the short walk to the waterfall. The kids enjoyed the well maintained playground too.

Moose Valley Provincial Park

Reviewed By SnosibeRanch - 100 mile house

Still a hidden gem! Even the last 8 km of the access road are quite rough (4 wheel drive), you will enter a paradise of nature and wild animals. This chain of 8 smaller lakes with mostly christal clear water, connected by well signposted portages, is for every grade of skill.
The access point is a small Forest Campsite with 5 sites, tables and firepits (plus outhouses). The most western lake (Marks Lake) has a small, unmaintained emergency hut. But you can do the whole chain in one day!
You want to be alone - just with nature and animals - this is your spot.

Our family really enjoyed our experience at the ranch. From the two kinds of alpacas to the sheep, miniature horses and the friendly and informative host. Highly recommended for families with younger children. Ranch is right off Highway near 90 Mile. Call ahead to book a tour and there is a very small fee though well worth it. There is also a shop to purchase items!
