Amazing architecture in the Viking Village where this Festival -only in June- is held. The village itself is quite authentic. Restaurants, hotel and houses offer a unique experience of Viking life. Do visit if you are in Iceland in June for storytelling, archery, a battle, cuisine, handcrafts and Rune stone readings.

The magical Elf Walk with seer Ragnhildur Jonsdottir is a unique experience and gives the visitor a exciting glimpse into the world of elves and huldufolk The walk takes place in Hellisgerdi Park , a small beautiful lava park in Hafnarfjordur, 15 minutes drive from downtown Reykjavik. Hellisgerdi is a magical place, known for its beautiful lava rock formations and the nature beings living there, Elves, Huldufolk and Dwarves. The walk starts at the the Elf Garden house that offers artwork, books and jewellery inspired by elves, huldufolk and nature. Please e-mail or call for available walks
We stumbled across the elf walk whilst passing through on the way to the lava hostel and were amazed at the effort that they had gone to to make the experience enjoyable. the park itself is also very nice to just sit and relax in the peace and calm.

A small public park, tucked away in the lava at the heart of Hafnarfjördur. The park is known for being a home of Elves and Hidden people. Juring the summer and some sunny days the Little Elf store is open for souvenir and some refreshments.
A friend of ours had toured this park with a local elf whisperer earlier this year so we knew about the legends surrounding this park, that it's one of the closest gateways to the elf kingdoms in all of Iceland. Just knowing that adds a special luster to this charming park with its maze of paths through interesting volcanic rock formations and beautiful trees and wildflowers. We missed it as we entered town from Reykjavik, but after turning around, found our way back. It's not well marked but if you park in the small city lot at the corner of Reykjavikurvegur and Skuleskeid there's a path into the park from there.

The area was so interesting, filled with seaweed, moss, rocks and little pools of water, we just spent so much time walking on rocks, finding mussels and jelly fish and enjoying the sunset. The light reflected on the water was so dreamy and romantic, we did not want to leave. The ducks also kept us company.
