We arrived near the closing time but still had a great meal and nothing was too much trouble. Advice would be to arrive early as I believe the restaurant has live entertainment earlier in the evening.

It's Saturday, I'm mooching about, looking in one of the local museums ( some houses going back to early 1800's ) and come across this coffee house/ cafe.
The well filled tarts looked inviting! It turned out to be a chicken and vegetable curry. Served with sour cream and salad dressing. Absolutely delicious! The coffee's pretty good too!! Cost 4430 ISK. About what you would expect for Iceland. That's about £17.00 in UK.
A most pleasant place to have a break. Hafnarfjördur is generally a quiet town and a charming place to chill out for a few days.

This house, known as A.Hansen house is of great historic intrest. Since its one of the oldest houses in the heart of Hafnarfjörður. The oldest house in town, the residance of noble Bjarni Sivertsen , now the towns museeum is adjuvent to A.Hansen and was built in 1803-1805. Only few steps further is Icelandic Maritime museeum. A. Hansen was built in 1880 by marchant Knudtzon, In the current time our Head chef Silbene Dias, try to please all types of palates, with specialties in grills, A.Hansen also offers, quality in sandwiches and hamburgers homemade, and don't forget Vegan's also has space guaranteed here.
They serve excellent meat/fish dishes in traditional ways, have meat options of whales and horse. Few Fish dishes but delicate and juicy. The place is not for the vegetarian. Affordable prices and cozy atmosphere.Hi Nirai thanks for the review, our team is always trying to offer the best for our customers to feel satisfied..

When taking my mother out for a nice afternoon drive and coffee for afters we often go to Pallett. It’s a relatively new place in the town Hafnarfjorður. There she gets her favourite hot chocolate and a brownie. I prefer their scone, with clotted cream and ginger marmalade, all made in-house. I love their tea and I usually choose the lap sang soughing as it is a smoked black tea with a strong taste and a great caffeine aftereffect I enjoy (in moderation).

I believe this is an Icelandic chain, offering burgers and a lot more. Staying at the nearby Nordurey hotel, this was 5-7 minutes walk in the snow. Just far enough to whet the appetite. The burger and the fries were quite good, certainly better than any of the chain burger joints back in our home town.
Based on the reviews they may have occasional growing pains, but we were pleased to find a good meal for less than $20. This is no small accomplishment in Iceland. They have a pretty broad menu. This was one of the three best meals we got in Hafnarfjordur, and tied for lowest price. We'd go back...

Classic American burgers, salads, steaks, fish and more. A great place for families and people of all ages.
As with all eateries in Iceland, this place was relatively expensive (around 1500/1600 Kr for burger & chips) We usually wouldn't eat burgers but there were only fast food places open on a Sunday afternoon in this part of Hafnarfjordur. We had a regular burger and a vegan burger - both were OK, but as mentioned, poor value compared to the UK.

Nordic cool at its best. For years, the renowned chef Sveinn Kjartansson has been showing viewers of Icelandic Television how to make the most of the country's natural food sources, especially its impressive range of seafood. Now, visitors to AALTO Bistro in the Nordic House can sample for themselves the work of this creative chef, in the form of delicious and delightful fresh lunch specials and during the day. When it comes to afternoon coffee, linger awhile, over delicious homemade cakes, all made with the best ingredients available at the time, Over the weekends, a delicately constructed dinner menu. Naturally, the fruits of the sea feature prominently, although meat and vegan options are also on offer. In true New Nordic style, the food at AALTO Bistro draws on fresh, local, healthy produce, ingredients which change with the seasons. Head chef Sveinn stirs in a dash of his trademark magic to create the prettiest of plates. Healthy food for a happy heart!
The Nordic House is one of the finest buildings in Reykjavik, a great homage to the famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. The small restaurant has a fine view of the city over a busy duck pond. There were 4 of us and all had excellent food. The crab cakes and the seafood soup were tasty and so was the fish pan, catfish and cod that followed, all perfectly cooked. This is surely some of the best food to be had in Reykjavik. The chef, Sveinn Kjartansson was charming. Ask for a window table.

BAN KUNN offers all the traditional thai food and various specialties. It is also a great selection of drinks available; fruit juices, soda, coffee, beer, wine and spirits. Thai food culture is rich in tradition and known for using only fresh ingredients to achieve the best and the tradition followed by Ban Kunn and course there are Thailandese that cook all food locally. Welcome, hope you enjoy !
Since we are Thais, try to find good Thai food in Iceland and this place come across on trip adviser we walked in with no expectation (just like other Thai restaurant abroad).
The food was incredibly good in my opinion it's as close as street food in Bangkok as you can get in Iceland due to the limitation of the ingredients.
Chef Wat the owner and the chef gave us a warm welcome by making us a north eastern style dishes off the menu (what a nice guy)
We ended up going to the restaurant two days in a row with three meals(it's that good lol)
Definitely come back next time when I'm in Iceland. Highly recommended you won't be disappointed

We went here because it was close to our hotel. Since food is really expensive in Iceland, this was a great value. We got a medium pizza with one topping for 1,000 Krona (about $10), which is much cheaper than everywhere else we ate. (Subway cost about $30 for two people, Sandwich only) It was really good pizza too! The crust was perfect and they made it in about ten minutes. I would recommend if you're looking for something a little cheaper.
