Concur with Colin that the local community deserves a big wrap for developing such a unique attraction. The standing stones are really well explained in brochures from the tourist bureau and on site. The history of the Celts in the area makes interesting Reading and the olde-style cafe fits in perfectly with the site. There's also some nice views over the farms and town at the top of the hill if you have the energy to walk a couple of hundred metres to the lookout.

The centre offers plenty of souvenir options including items made from the local tartan. The staff are helpful and friendly. You can even purchase bags of wash to try your luck at finding a saphire or two.Thank you Whitwillow for your kind words. Staff understand that service is everything. Look forward to you calling in again. Regards Peter

A nice place to stop for a coffee and scones with very yummy strawberry jam. We had cards that we got at the tourist information centre for free coffees so that was a nice added bonus. Coffee was a bit cold but couldn't complain. Some...MoreSorry the coffee was cold!! You could have asked and it would have been replaced - every one likes their coffee a different temperature so it is never a problem to remake them! Thank you for your kind review!

The museum houses a unique collection of local artefacts and memorabilia dating back to the early settlers of Glen Innes and District and encompassing its Celtic heritage. All located in the original Glen Innes Hospital. A variety of machinery is on view in the grounds. The Research Centre has an extensive collection of resources available for family and local history research. Open 7 days.
We spent a couple of hours in the museum as their displays were excellent. Housed in the old hospital the museum captures the history of Glen Innes very well. From early settlers, to machinery, buggies, hospital items, early schooling, photographic developments to early every day items. There is something for everyone. We really enjoyed the display. The volunteer at the door was friendly giving us a plan of the museum layout as well as inviting us to have some afternoon tea at the end of our visit. True country hospitality.
