Visited Tekeo city library early March'17. The library is new and stylist. Neither my wife and myself could read Japanese..but it just felt relaxing being in library. There is a starbuck inside the library which featured sakura flavoured afternoon tea with sponge cake with nice ambience. Nice experience to spend your time if here if you love Reading

The shrine is nice and is unusually white instead of the black and orange that I have grown accustom to. If you want to see the very very old tree (who wouldn't?) Go towards the shrine and head to the left. There are signs and a path. Follow it a little ways and through some bamboo and there you will see a huge tree with a mini shrine inside. You can't go near it (anymore?) but it is hollow in the middle.
Many Japanese people call this place a "power spot", if you are keen to such things. There is a parking lot that can hold a few cars if you drove all the way up. We parked a bit down the road because the tiny drive was so narrow we weren't sure our Accord would fit.

Went on 7th May 2016, no more purple wisteria, only white wisteria. Other flower also mostly have died, make sure you go at the end of April or it will not be worth it. 1 star.

If you dont understand Japanese, dont bother to consider putting this in the itinerary. This place is more suitable for kids and locals.

It was part of a souvenir shop with exhibition corner and cafeteria. I could not see a proper counter for tourist information, only a desk with local maps and leaflets on highlights around the area. Takeo onsen wasn't a big tourist spot anyway, so a self-serve counter would probably be adequate.
