Suwon (Hangul: 수원, Hanja: 水原, Korean pronunciation: [su.wʌn]) is the capital and largest metropolis of Gyeonggi-do, South Korea's most populous province which surrounds Seoul, the national capital. Suwon lies about 30 kilometres (19 miles) south of Seoul. It is traditionally known as "The City of Filial Piety". With a population close to 1.2 million, it is larger than Ulsan, although it is not governed as a metropolitan city.

The first thing we visited Suwon was to come to see the Hwaseong HaengGung. The palace is relative small compared to those in Seoul and there is no admission fee. There are site maps (in many languages) at the entrance. It helps you to navigate the palace.
Due of its small size, it is easy to go around the whole palace within a short among of time. There are life-size models of maids and servants in some of the rooms (kitchen, living room, classroom), which make it fun to look at. In the court yard, there are also 2 life-size models of the main characters of a very well know Korean soap opera. Many people take pictures with them.

There are 4 gates in the fortress, North, South, East and West. It is worth it to see each gate as they differ from each other. These are the entrance ways into the fortress during the old days. The current King still visits the fortress several times a year. It has beautiful grounds and the views are really good from the top of the hill.

What more can I say...
I have been both inside the stadium for watching games and outside the stadium for exercise.
Every time the grounds are clean and facilities are kept in top condition.
The outer ring around the stadium offers exercise equipment, art and the ability to hire sports equipment and electronic ride on toy cats for kids.
A great visit for either a game or sightseeing.

Catch bus 11 13 36 or 39 from the train station and alight here and this dominating structure. High walled and colourful roof top. Sadly unable to enter but still great to admire from afar. Visitors centre located on the west side.

I visited here in Autumn (28th Nov 2014) and although wet and a bit windy it was still an enchanting and memorable place. This is the Western Gate of the Suwon Fortress and I highly recommend you start out at the Southern Paldalmun Gate and walk west up the fortress walls to get to the Hwaseomun Gate. This walk is quite steep and uneven in places and so you need to be pretty fit and able bodied but it's well worth the effort. It is like walking a mini 'Great Wall of China' in parts with plenty to see along the way (like Hyowons Bell). The Autumn colours were great and as you come down the hill onto the Hwaseomun Gate itself the view is fabulous. (See Photos). Allow a good 1 hour to walk from the Paldalmun Gate to here... Enjoy!

A bit away from the main attractions in Suwon, but easily accessible from Sungkyunkwan Univ. Station, cross the road and outside the church you can catch the number 64 bus. Tell the driver Haewoojae and they will be happy to tell you where to get off, if not listen out for Dongwon High School and get off there. It's about a 10 minute walk from there. There wasn't too much to see and do there really, wouldn't recommend.

I and my colleague at work visited there for walk with fresh air. The mountain was lower than other place and easy to get to the top of a mountain. Because there was not crowded, so it was more good feelings. There was unremarkable, but this point was not bad. Easy, good mountain without burdens
