Welcome to North Mountain, a green oasis in Sundsvall and one of the region's most visited destinations. The combination of nature, culture, history, cafés, shops, Playgrounds, barbecue areas and events attracts young and old, all year round. There is something for all ages and tastes.
If you are visiting Sundsvall, this is not to be missed. In recent years family friendly activities have increased in this area. Older buildings gathered serve as an outdoor museum, there are a couple of cafe's and a great outdoor play area for children. In the summer some animals, sheep, cows, hens and rabbits I believe, are kept in little fenced in areas. The restaurant on the top should serve both lunches and coffee, possibly dinner also. Park in the large P lot at the lower end of the area (maps will indicate, or you can ask at the tourist information or locals) and walk your way to the top, past the play area.
On the way you MUST visit "Vinfabriken", an old building housing a wonderful craft store (varied local crafts) and a delicatessen store selling local delicatessen! If you don't have much time, or have difficulty walking, drive straight up to the top, or directly to the Vinfabriken store. Enjoy! We always come back, every summer we visit Sundsvall.

Sundvall city is a worth place to visit. From Stockholm to Sundvall by train will take about 6 hours. The best time you visit this place is on June. The climate temperature average 9º to 15º which for me is perfect. The nice buidings and cobblestone roads are beartifully preserve. You can able to see the original hotes of the towns peple. Everyone is friendly and nice.

The biggest shopping area in this part of Sweden. Filled with hardware stores, Electronic stores, many smaller shops (in malls) and any other type of store you can think f. This includes a big IKEA. Free parking all over the place, lots of places to eat (fast food as well as "real food". And you can shop for groceries as well in three of the biggest grocery stores of the area. Bring you wallet and family for a visit.

If you are interested in the ruins and well kept buildings from a former iron-smelting-place (in Swedish hytta) you will find this place ideal. It lies like a forgotten idyll at a stream close to the coast. There is a little church and a good restaurant. You can even rent small houses for overnight. The ironworks were founded in the 17th century and closed dowh in 1918.

The Thai pavilion in Bispgården is still a quite interesting building historically. The pavilion and the surroundings haven't changed much besides that there is now a quite big parking and you have to pay entrance fee to get in. Honestly, even though the building i interesting and very special, you'll see everything there is to see in 15 minutes. So be warned, this is not a half day place for a visit. You'll get some nice photos with your family and a quite funny story about how you went to Sweden to visit a thai pavilion!

Very nice place to go for a walk and see the history of the area including the old harbour and the ruins of the 19th century buildings. Also there are 2500 year old bronze age grave stones. No info in English and maybe paths can be a bit more clearly marked but almost impossible to get lost.
