I've visited Argyll Adventure for lessons and trail rides numerous times. Very well run facility situated on Loch Fyne with stunning scenery. Staff are always very friendly and welcoming. The main thing I like--other than the riding which is always fun--is that they seem to take very good care of their horses. Also, safety is a top priority.

I did the week trek in Islay. Every aspect was wonderful. The accommodation was comfortable and spacious. The food is worth a mention because it was over the top incredible. Emma the cook served us a mountain of delicious home made food for breakfast and dinner. I counted 22 bowls of fruit as a casual "starter" before cooked breakfast. I had my first taste of Scottish porridge with brown sugar, cream and whisky which was delightful. The horse riding was very fun and challenging, especially as I am a beginner. Nikki and Cara were pleasant and professional and coached me through every step of the way. The scenery was beautiful and we hit the jackpot with the sunny weather. I couldn't stop reaching for my camera. The scenery constantly changed from farmland to forest to hills and Beaches. Even the experienced riders in the group were thrilled by the technical challenges. The adrenaline rush was incredible! I couldn't say enough positive things about this trek, thank you so much for one of the best weeks I have ever had :)

Had great expectations from Reading all the tripadvisor reviews and it absolutely did not disappoint. Our guide - Ian, was brilliant. Engaging and knowledgeable about the wildlife and history of the area but crucially for us made the kids feel part of the team. We saw all manner of wildlife but the highlight for us was the inquisitive seals and the porpoises - what an absolute treat. Thank you for an unforgettable day.

Fyne Ales

Fyne Ales is located on a working farm in Argyll at the head of Loch Fyne, an area renowned for its excellent natural produce. We are a team who are passionate about brewing outstanding and progressive craft ales.We have a great bar on site, where you can sit and enjoy a tasting flight of a selection of our beers, or a few pints of your favourite. We also serve beef pies made from our own highland beef, which is also available to buy in the shop. Brewery tours can be arranged when the Brewers are available.

They do not seem to advertise it but you can get your Growlers filled here, Whenever I'm diving in the area I try to drop in and get mine filled as you can't beat a freshly pulled pint of Jarl, unless it's 2 pints!
Hopefully Fyne Ales will produce their own Growlers as I'm sure they would take off and I could always use another so I'm not limited to choosing one beer.
I have always found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful and there is a great choice of beers in bottle and seasonal / core beers on tap. The staff are happy to let you taste the beers on tap and for non drinkers or drivers there are soft drinks and coffee e.t.c available.
The brewery is only a couple of minutes of the road so make the effort to go in and stock up and maybe sample a pint or two if you are lucky enough to have a driver with you.

Quadmania

The only 5 star centre in Scotland for Quad Biking, Clay Pigeon Shooting and Archery, as rated by Visit Scotland.

Reviewed By McVean16 - Arrochar, United Kingdom

I am writing this review based on feedback provided by recent guests staying at my holiday rental apartment, who booked a Quadmania experience during their stay, after seeing a leaflet in my information folder. It was a father and his 13 year old daughter who attended, and they were absolutely thrilled by their time spent out on the quad bikes. All aspects of bike familiarisation/operation and personal safety were covered in detail by extremely friendly staff, ensuring all participants were comfortable and confident, before leaving on their 90 minute trek though stunning scenery. My guests advised they would certainly have no hesitation in recommending the experience to others, whether they were novice or experienced drivers.

Dunans Castle

A tour set in the grounds of Dunans Castle. A-listed bridge, B-listed castle and a fantastic restoration project set in wonderful policies. Booking is necessary.

Reviewed By Michael L - Pembroke, United Kingdom

This is a very quirky way to ensure that we do not lose all of our heritage to property developers as for a moderate sum you purchase a square foot of the land around the castle and this also allows you to use the title of Laird or Lady, which to me is just a bit of fun, the idea behind the scheme is to eventually rebuild the castle to its former glory and then it can be used for all forms of social events, the bridge you have to drive over to enter the grounds is certainly worth taking pictures of and this year they have got a small bothy that you can rent to stay in, I do not know any prices but everything is available on line. So far I believe that there is many thousands of people who have joined the scheme which means that any developer who wanted to buy the land would have a lot of letters to post to find out who wants to allow it to be turned into something horribly modern

Puck's Glen

Reviewed By Alan R - norfolk

Pucks Glen is an extraordinary location. You can easily miss the entrance if you are driving a wee bit too fast! So slow down and benefit from the experience that awaits.
There are a series of graded walks that allow you (and your dog) to climb through 'fairy' grottos, gorges and along woodland tracks. All can literally take your breath away with their beauty. Even if the weather is a bit less than sunny the walks are inspiring. The majesty and enormity of the trees will live with you long after you have left this wonderful part of Argyll. Look out for the red squirrels, I used to see them regularly but havent for a while, listen for the call of the various birds of prey and watch the deer, now they are there but sometimes they can be illusive. Afterwards head out to Sheila's Diner or Benmore for a bowl of soup.

Glen Croe is very under rated - I love the view over Loch Restil with the craggy Mountains dropping into its dark waters.Beautiful.This road itself winds up to a parking area before levelling off, a fine drive. IN fact, the whol e drive to Inveraray is really wonderful - lochs and Mountains round every corner.
