The village lies south of the IJsselmeer in the municipality Bunschoten, Utrecht. It is one of the few places left in the Netherlands where some women still wear local traditional clothes.

Escape Room is a unique real-life game in which you and your team get challenged to solve puzzels and to think outside of the box. Goal: escape within the hour from the mysterious room. The game is exciting, surrealistic, intens, magical, logical and exhilarating - all at the same time! Once you've entered the Escape Room you'll lose track of time and reality.
I played there both Laboratory and Meisjeskamer. And there is only one word to describe it which is WOW. Meisjeskamer has the story, riddles, effects and the entourage. It is one of those rooms which is worth travelling for. When you play, you totally loose the feeling of time and live the story.
I would not recommend to start playing escape rooms with this one because it would be difficult to find many rooms of such a high quality))) But it is definitely worth playing!!!!!!
P.S. Also there is a bar and relax area with computer games and other things. It is convenient to sit a while after the game and to discuss it.

We were staying in Amersfoort and caught the public bus to Bunschoten-Spakenburg. Spakenburg is an old fishing village which is now a bit inland, due to land reclamation. Just looking from the bus at the houses, churches, canals, and parks, was interesting. The Saturday Market in Spakenburg sells all the usual stuff of a Dutch open market. There are a lot of tourists in Spakenburg, and they are almost all Dutch. There are very few foreigners- which makes it more attractive to visit. We took the small tourist tram for a ride around Spakenburg- the commentary is only in Dutch, and the driver couldn't speak English- but it was fun. Afterwards, we did what the Dutch do- we had a herring (haring) with chopped onion (I think it was raw- delicious like sashimi) and then had an icecream.
I recommend visiting Spakenburg on a Saturday , or any other day.

The Koppelpoort is a city gate in Amersfoort. It is a combination of land and water gate. The name is probably derived from the East Middle Dutch word Coppel meaning meadow
This was well worth navigating the tricky, narrow streets to see. There was a couple having their wedding photos taken here and I don't blame them. It's a stunning piece of architecture.. We loved our time walking the leafy streets of Amersfoort. It's stunningly beautiful.

I enjoyed the "CUBAN ART NOW" exhibition at Singer Laren. The museum is currently undergoing some construction-work expanding its theater and the sculpture and flower-gardens will be planted by designer Piet Oudolf and opened summer 2018.At the moment of my visit the sculpture Gardens were temporarily covered with lawn to show the ELEFANT PROJECT. I enjoyed seeing the work of contemporary Cuban artists like Jose Emilio Fuentes Fonseca(JEFF),Ibrahim Miranda,Flavio Garciandia,Alejandro Campins and Raul Cordero. There was an exhibition of work for sale by local artists from Laren village as well.

We didn't enter the castle as we came for the garden and walks. The castle is impressive from the outside and the coffee shop is great for a drink.
The vegetables and flower Gardens are beautiful and as a keen photographer I could spend hours in the garden.
Will definitely come back for more.

boat on the eem from Amersfoort to Spakenburg via soest and baarn and back. you can embark or disembark at any of the stops and you can bring your bicycle. for example you can cycle from Amersfoort station where you can rent a bicycle, cycle to "paleis soestdijk" in soest (there is a bicycle path through the woods, going past the sand dunes as well, it is an easy cycle trip), visit the palace and the surrounding garden, then cycle to the eemslijn stop in soest. the boat will bring you and your bicycle back to Amersfoort, 5 minutes from the station and provide you with some nice views of dutch meadows and Amersfoort along the way. afterwards, have a look at the old center of Amersfoort, also a good place to have dinner.
for the boat, check the site for the operation times and the stops and you will need to pay cash.
I paid 5 euro's for 1 bicycle, 1 adult, going from soest to Amersfoort

It's a nice palace but there are better palaces to visit in Netherlands. There's not too much to see. Not worth going to Soest just to visit the palace but if you are already there then definitely go and see. Would need some construction works...

The windmill in Spakenburg is a typical Dutch feature. Although many mills were used to keep the lands dry, this one is to grind corn etc. into flour. You can buy this at the mill too. How bio/eco-friendly does it get?!
The mill itself is great too, and if you have a chance, climb to the top, great view of the village.

Amersfoort central is full of stone houses in old style. I always wander the streets (especially the ones around Mondriaanhuis) to feel the relaxing atmosphere and those part is more silent and calm than the onze-lieve-vrouw. On sunny days you can get your drink and sit next to the canals to enjoy
