Signagi or Sighnaghi (Georgian: სიღნაღი) is a town in Georgia's easternmost region of Kakheti and the administrative center of the Signagi Municipality. Although it is one of Georgia's smallest towns, Signagi serves as a popular tourist destination due to its location at the heart of Georgia's wine-growing regions, as well as its picturesque landscapes, pastel houses and narrow, cobblestone streets. Located on a steep hill, Signagi overlooks the vast Alazani Valley, with the Caucasus Mountains visible at a distance.

The Bodbe Monastery is nested on a steep hillside overlooking the Alazani Valley, where is the views of the Greater Caucasus Mountains. Surrounded by Cypress trees Originally built in the 9th century, monastery now functions as a nunnery and is one of the major pilgrimage sites in Georgia, due to its association with St. Nino, the 4th-century female evangelist of Georgians, whose relics are shrined there.

King Erekle II constructed a defensive wall around the hill town of Signagi in the 18th century. Its towers were named for the surrounding villages, and the townspeople were meant to gather at their tower in times of trouble. It was a fun experience to walk the narrow streets and admire the richly carved balconies and the green Valleys below.

Cradle of Wine is a new winery and tasting room located in Sighnaghi. We serve natural wines made in qvevri and stainless steel made traditionally on skins, stems and seeds, using an 8,000 year old technique first developed here in the Kakheti region of Georgia.
It's a charming place with calm, relaxing and cozy atmosphere. We spent a weekend at Paul's lovely place and were amazed with his warm welcome and hospitality. This place boasts a breathtaking view over the Alazani Valley and offers some really good wines and excellent food. It's a great hangouts for people looking to spend a relaxing weekend in a friendly environment not very far from the capital.

My wife and I did a wine tasting here while touring the Kakheti region and loved it. The atmosphere and decor in the restaurant/tasting room was great and the staff were very friendly. The wines were delicious and the staff did a great job introducing each one. The only reason we did not eat here was because we had a massive late lunch earlier in the day, but the food all looked and smelled great.

This isn't the largest museum in the world but it's well laid-out with interesting, relevant local exhibits. There's plenty of information in Georgian and English and we enjoyed spending an hour there. The Niko Pirosmani paintings are great. Worth the 5 GEL entry fee.

Our guide said that it is Georgian Don Quixote, but afcourse this sculpter inspired by Niko Pirosmani.
Location is quite hard for photography. Municipality could move away electric box next to it, so it look nice both sides - look to the bridge and to city centre.
There are so many sculptures in Georgia!

Living Roots Ranch Our, located in Qadeli (just above Bodbe monastery and five minutes before arriving in Sighnaghi) is home for horses and ready for horse lovers..
This is my second time riding horses at Living Roots, each time a unique experience for the die-hard horse lover. Beautiful view of Alazani valley, happy and patient horses, many other friendly animals at the ranch - the first time I saw Caucasian shepherd dogs desperate to be petted!
Even my moody teenage son enjoyed the experience, especially meeting a herd of cows blocking a narrow passage, and Arsen the guide dealing politely but expertly with them!
Will come back next year with horse-loving friends hoping for a 2-3 days trip with horses

Signagi is called city of love... Ididn't know exactly why but I could find 24 hours working Palace of Marriage where a couple can register their relations even at night. That's why probably Signagi is called city of love... Funny sculpture of a girl with a bunch of flowers is placed exactly before the entrance waiting for a newly married couple to come by.

Seems like the most important place in town is this small Square - marriage palace and museum is next to it, fointain, sculpture of Doctor on Donkey as well, few bakeries, exchange service. Nothing much to do there, just slowly enjoy local rutine.
