Sidon Souks

Reviewed By ENRIC-23 - Valencia, Spain

Fascinating labyrinth of vaulted souqs, tiny streets, and medieval buildings (palaces, museum soap, churches, mosques, and beautiful buildings). In the souq there are many craftspeople, tasty sweets, and cakes, perfumed cafes with cardamom, manakish, spices, fresh fruits,...

Soap Museum

Reviewed By Arielruffian - Singapore

This museum shows how soap is made, painstakingly shaped, the patterns or insignia of each family and how soap is perfumed. The museum itself is clean (wonderful bathrooms with really good soap), cool, and we enjoyed our half hour tour. We probably enjoyed shopping in the soap factory shop afterwards, the orange blossom is divine. Many cute souvenirs - soap shaped like the Lebanon flag, cutesy animals etc...pleasant way to while away a half hour. Cost is nominal.

Khan al-Franj

Reviewed By Paul K - Boston, Massachusetts, United States

This attraction is a must-see in Sidon. It's only moments from the souk center, and boasts a large courtyard with spectacular arches and pendant lights. It is currently undergoing some restoration, so not all parts of it are open to the public, but just the view from the courtyard alone is worth the trip. If any of the archaeologists are on site, they may engage you in a conversation about the process of restoration. There is no entrance fee and there are public bathrooms (a rarity in Lebanon).

Debbane Palace

I love this mini palace. I visited it several times. Its architecture as well as its furniture reflect the atmosphere of old days. If you access to its Terrace you can view old Sidon. It needs a little time to go around. Its location is in the old streets of Sidon almost near other historical places to visit in this old city.

Temple of Eshmoun

Reviewed By Rasmi17 - Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

This is one of the amazing historical places in Lebanon, but unfortunately neglected by the government. We went the first time and the place was closed. The second time, we succeeded to enter. The road leading to the place was very narrow, full of holes, and there was no parking area. The place is full of historical relics that belongs to different eras, but there was no guide to help us. The place was simply neglected, full of old shrubs and plants, some of which even growing over the historic ruins!
I recommend visitors not to were any opened shoes or sandals. Be cautions of insects crawling in the ground. There is a beautiful restaurant near to the temple, I recommend to visit, and order for mixed grill, there is a river called "Awali" passing through the restaurant, very nice to watch and have a good time. Small kids needs to be watched not to jump into the river.
There is also a sweet shops selling amazing and tasty kinds of sweets similar to turkish delights, but even tastier. The shops are called "Samra" for those sweet fans.
