I have really agonised about writing this review.
Solta (pronounced like Schweppes) is a beautiful small island, not spoiled by mass tourism, where life is simple but good.
While my wife and I had a wonderful, relaxing week, we don't really want to encourage lots of people to go there and change it forever.
So, whisper it quietly: Solta is a great place just 40 minutes by ferry from Split; quieter than Hvar or other Croatian isles.

Choovita Beach Bar

Reviewed By janariescharie - Zagreb, Croatia

Never go to Necujam in high summer unless you are completely deaf !
Nice apartments, nice beach, nice bay, nice beach bars.
However, at 8 PM the 'music' starts outside one bar, house-music, rap and the like, than the other bar starts too, in response the first bar increases his volume. This sequence continues until normal conversation becomes impossible even at 200 m. distance. Sometimes a 3rd bar joins, resulting in a cacafonia of immense magnitude. The bar-manager refuses to lower his volume, the lady from the tourist office is unwilling to intervene, So unless you are stone-deaf never go to Necujam in july or august.....

Diving Centre Leomar

Reviewed By Kiowa78 - Udine, Italy

i spent a week diving in Solta with Leomar diving center. I booked an apartment directly from Leo, in the same building of the diving center. The rooms were good, cleaned and with a beautiful view on the sea. Wifi is available, too. The diving center is well equipped (i was suprised to see high quality regulators - Apeks - available for renthal. The diving is equipped for all kind of diving, from discovery (they are really well skilled in training childrens) to technical divies with trimix.
the boat is waiting the divers in front of the diving center (only a few steps below the diving) and taking them to breath taking places like the "catedrale" (an incredible cave), to wrecks or very nice drop-offs.
Often after the diving day the girls in the diving center are receiving guests offering "palacinke", (a local cake).
Due to the temperature in the water (16 celsius after 10 meters) diving with a dry suit is not a bad idea ;)

We spent an hour with our 4 year old daughter there and it was so great, we want to go back again! The owner has extensive knowledge about archery, makes everything himself with his friend and he's a very patient teacher. The setting is perfect with tree coverage for shadow and a cool medieval decor. One of the highlights of our trip, don't hesitate to go there!

A really informative day out and tour of this small island too. Interesting to see the olive trees then visit the oil processing facility. Frane was a very engaging guide and provided a great lunch and talk through the processes and local culture of olive growing and oil making. A bit of a shame not to see oil making unless you're there the right time of year / maybe a video would show some of the action. Bring your swimming things to make a day of it or be prepared to lounge a while in a cafe before the ferry home. Recommended if you like this sort of thing!

My wife and I had a fantastic meal at Agroturizam Kastelanac. She is Croatian and was very impressed with the home style cooking. Everything was very fresh and well presented. All the fish seemed like it just came out of the sea. The service was excellent. I highly recommend.
