The amount, variety and quality of the NZ souvenirs is astounding. There are items here that I haven’t seen anywhere else in NZ. Everything I have purchased is of very high quality. The staff are always lovely. My only criticism is the totally uninteresting layout which does not do justice to the amazing items.

Experience the whole of New Zealand in one building! Te Papa is New Zealand's bold, innovative and interactive national museum. Explore the great treasures and stories of this country, its unique natural environment, Maori culture and taonga (treasures), dynamic art heritage, and its fascinating history. Te Papa is located on Wellington's spectacular waterfront. Open 10am to 6pm every day except Christmas Day. General admission is free.
This is a good museum overall - several interactive/learning exhibits. What was most impressive may well no longer be available by the time you get there. The Gallipoli Campaign exhibit, in partnership with Weta Studios (from the Lord of the Rings movies, etc.) was absolutely incredible!

Great off road walk though to be fair you have to be alert to the odd mountain biker who hurtles down the rail .... lot of interesting things to see and a very peaceful place to sit

The Great War Exhibition, created by Sir Peter Jackson, commemorates the role played by New Zealand in the First World War. Journey through the War, year by year, meeting the challenges faced by brave young soldiers. Experience the gritty hardship and the horror of the Battlefields as seen by those caught in the conflict. Entry into The Great War Exhibition is $15 for adults. Children 16 and under are free. The Exhibition also offers you guided tours for a small fee. These depart every twenty minutes and are a great way to make the Exhibition come alive. So we always remember.
Peter Jackson's contribution to the telling of the Gallipoli events is monumental. The life-like figures are, apart from size, are so real that photos of them appear to be photos of live people.
Gallipoli was Churchill's folly and another example of the stupidity of human sacrifice in the name of war..

Welcome to Wellington’s first Cat Adoption Cafe – Neko Ngeru! “Neko” means cat in Japanese and “Ngeru” also means cat in Maori so our name is translated as “Cat Cat Cat Adoption Cafe!” Neko Ngeru was founded to give you opportunities to cuddle and play with cats and also for more opportunities for our guest cats to be adopted! A percent of our profits go to the four rescue organisations we work with: Wairarapa Community Kitties, Upper Hutt Animal Rescue Society, Outpawed, and Feral Nation.
As crazy cat people we love visiting cat cafes wherever everyone travel.
This Wellington one just opened a month ago. The owners are very friendly, the cat playful and the hot chocolate looks delicious . Also FANTASTIC cat items to purchase... we did...
If you like cats and you are in the area- certainly worth a visit

High lookout point along Wellington's Southern Walkway gives visitors a spectacular view of the city and its surroundings.
If you are bringing visitors in from the airport for their first look at Wellington, take them straight to the Mt Victoria lookout. it is a great view for them to appreciate the coolest little capital in the world. And some nice walking tracks and a great bowling club further down the slopes!

Through utilising French and European inspired recipes, then adapting them to locally sourced New Zealand products, the Chocolate Story blends in premium chocolates such as the world famous Valrhona Couverture Chocolate to produce chocolates for which we are sure you and your friends will love.
I thoroughly enjoyed this tour, it's not massive but it takes you through the history of Chocolate/York and has something different in every room...I especially loved how the picture frame room worked! You get to understand high and low quality chocolate and learn how to taste it properly, then finally you make your own lolly and then watch how they make chocolate with fillings.....very interesting.

The Earth Quake damaged a portion of the mall, but is now minus the movie Theaters..
Shopping.. with the usual, average middle range women's clothing predominant, throw in a Warehouse, Farmers, Countdown. With the usual FOOD COURT and casually scattered food stalls, and other shops that cater for the average family, U have a MALL.. much the same as most larger Malls in NZ! No designer brands available at present?
There is public Seating available ( not too many) which is a godsend on cold miserable days, when you can go/ meet here with friends, and sit and talk in comfort, for free!!
School holidays are a nightmare. This is a FREE CHILDCARE facility for school kids..
Give them some spending money, and they run riot along the walk paths.. playing catch me, etc..and being a Bl...y nuisance to shoppers and browsers alike.

We are a craft beer brewery based in Petone.
I have called into Baylands to taste and buy on 4 occasions now. The owners are very helpful, give you samples to taste and love talking about the brewing process, If asked they will recommend a beer suitable for "an occasion" They supply and fill 1.25litre plastic flagons, costing around $13 each.
SCHWEAT AS, a Pacific Wheat Ale at 5% alcohol and ROCK SOLID APA at 5.8% alcohol content are two that I particularily like, but hey....all their beers are pretty damn good. They seem to be open most days "ending in ...day"

Be embraced by the beauty of this gorgeous wooden Cathedral - still sacred, welcoming to all, in the heart of Wellington's heritage precinct. Breathtakingly beautiful - Wellington's famous Old St Paul's, constructed entirely of native timbers, is one of New Zealand's greatest heritage places. Experience the wonderful and sometimes quirky stories of this former Cathedral church, its historic location and its people. Gaze at Old St Paul's unique colonial architecture, admire its exquisite embroidered furnishings and be awed by the colours of its beautiful stained glass windows. It is a magnificent example of timber Gothic Revival architecture. Visit the Gift and all-year-around Christmas Shop at Old St Paul's, which features exquisite gifts, NZ keepsakes and beautiful Christmas decorations, advent calendars and nativity scenes. There is something to suit every taste. The site where Old St Paul's stands was formerly part of Pipitea Pa. For almost 100 years, Old St Paul's served as the parish church of Thorndon and the Anglican Cathedral of Wellington. It remains a place of spiritual significance to many and also has become a popular venue for a wide variety of cultural events.
What a beautiful old Cathedral made of wood. Stained glass, vaulted ceilings, just stunning. Of special significance was the 48 star U.S. Flag and the U.S. Marine Corp banner in a place of honor commemorating the hundreds of U.S. Marines stationed in Wellington during WW2. Take a moment to visit this special place.
