It dates from a time when Ottoman soldiers were growing increasingly tired of Serb rebellions against their rule. After quelling one such uprising in 1809, Ottoman troops decapitated 952 fallen Serbs and built the short, square tower out of the Serbs' heads. While the Ottomans intended it to serve as a warning to the local population, within a few years the Serbs had managed to rid their lands of the Ottoman occupiers, and they preserved the Skull Tower as a memorial to the sacrifice of the early Serb nationalists.
We walked to this tour (30 mins from center) and were pleased we did. The entry ticket included a short guided visit and the guide was really very informative in telling us the story behind the building of this tower.
I think anyone interested in the history of Nis and Serbia should visit it. Nice little pastry shop Lipa on the way to the attraction!

It was the very first nazzi camp that I visited. I imagined it will be somehow different. What we got is - hard to find place, nobody was there from entry to exit, very poor exposition...generally great potential poor utilisation. Site was free

The most beautiful historic building in the city, an early 16th century mosque, one of the few that survived destruction after the defeat of the Ottoman Turks. The architecture is simple: a square building with a circular dome on top. The skilful masonry is well visible outside, but also at two spots inside where the plaster work is interrupted. The minaret is not longer there. Interesting to know this mosque was meticulously restored in the 1970s during socialist times and Tito's presidency. At the time it served a purpose: unity in diversity was the motto of the movement of non-aligned countries.
The mosque does not serve any religious purpose anymore. It is a public building were often art Exhibitions are organized.

This small museum tells a story about the old Nis and the items they found in the ground. You will see coins, statues and pieces of jewelry found. Since the museum is small you would probably be done in 30 mins but considering it's low price and you can buy combination tickets including the concentration camp and the skull tower it's worth to visit.

This park is the center of young people's choice from this neighborhood to go outside and enjoy their free time. In the park there are lots of coffee shops, children's Playgrounds and much more. There is an elementary school nearby and also football, basketball and tennis courts. In the center of the park there is an Christian Orthodox church of Roman Emperor Constantine the Great in modern architectural design. You can enjoy your free time here as long as you want. I should know, since I have spent almost everyday of my life in this part of the city with my friends.

Personally what attracted me to this park was the story behind it (the killings that took place there) and the impressing 3 fists standing up. I was here on a sunday morning and I was all alone. What I found a little dissapointing was the amount of trash laying around. The place was littered with bags, bottles etc.
Tip: I was here in the late summer in the morning but there were already bugs biting me, so carry insect repellent if you are sensitive to this! There is no restaurant or toilet facilities (at least I didnt see any) so carry food and water if you want to stick around.

Mediana is a luxurious suburbia of Antique Naissus, built between III and the beginning of IV century. During the rule of Constantine the Great (306-337.) Mediana experienced the most impressive architectural progress. At the acrheological site Mediana you can see: villa with peristyle complex (peristyle, gala reception room, two dining rooms, remains of therme, mosaics), granary/winery, remains of two Early Christian churches from IV century with a mosaic of Christ’s monogram. The median is located on the road to Niska Banja. If you come to Niš my recommendation is to visit Mediana!
