Really can't say enough about Ecoagata. Easily one of the very best snorkelling experiences I've ever had, because Jose Manuel and Teresa were so friendly and accommodating; they helped my mom get comfortable when she was feeling nervous and like she might give up, and she ended up raving about it for the rest of the day. The place we went to was also incredible, you can see lots of schools of fish within a minute of leaving the beach. We even spotted an octopus! The water was perfectly clear, and the area is just beautiful. It's also worth noting that they provide you with great equipment in excellent condition, and take the time to ensure you're comfortable with it. 100% worth it, highly recommended!

Alboran Golf

Reviewed By MrsDisney2013 - Orlando, Florida

You will need buggies for this course it's quite up and down and in the heat you will know about it.
We rented clubs which were quite good a dozen balls were €13.
However on the website it said €100 for 4 players with buggies for 18 holes. After a phone call from reception there was a delay and the club changed the prices on the website and put it up €40!!!
Not happy but we either payed on suffered another day at the hotel, on the plus side we missed lunch.
It was very windy so very challenging it cut about 100yds off my drives, the bunkers are thin coarse sand I used a 7 iron out of them on the fairways no problems.
The greens weren't too good, slow on one then lightening quick on the next.
If you are in a local hotel such as the Cabogata Garden turn left out of the hotel to the traffic island then turn right and walk up the road for 10 minutes, clubhouse is a yellow painted building.
Changing rooms, and a very small shop for socks, tees, balls, hats (very expensive) .
A nice course would have been nice to play without the wind, so don't go on a windy day free advice!

Cabo de Gata - Nijar Natural Park

Reviewed By JenMarkCo - Kingston, Canada

West of Almeria is the ugly intensive farmland and urban developments around Roquetas de Mar and El Ejido. Go east and you enter a different world lacking in major development. The desert coastline in the park is ruggedly beautiful and reaches a climax at the lighthouse at Cabo de Gala and slightly further east at nearby Torre de la Vela Blanca.
At the time of our visit, February 2018, it was not possible to drive the full length of scenic ALP-822 around the coast. The gates at Torre de la Vela Blanca were shut and padlocked. Pity as the onward drive to San Jose would have been beautiful. The dirt road is however available to those on pushbikes and walkers as there is a 'squeeze through' beside the gate. We understood from other visitors that there is another locked gate at the San Jose end of the road.
The small villages along the coast within the park give an impression of what Spain must have been like before the hoards of sun seekers arrived and much of the Mediterranean coast was overbuilt with hotels, apartments and fast food outlets. Quiet small villages with limited accommodations and facilities. Still beautiful unspoilt Beaches, again still mostly without facilities.
One place slightly inland and well worth a half hour visit is the former mining village (was it a town?) of Rodaquilar. See the ruins of abandoned workers houses, street after street. See the paved streets with broken street lamps gradually being reclaimed by nature. See the abandoned mill with its cluster of once-busy clarifiers. Although an anachronism and eyesore within the park, Rodaquilar is as much a part of the local history as anything nearby and is being left to return to nature naturally, not bulldozed into oblivion as is often the case in such situations.
Next time we visit the area, we hope to do some hiking in the remote and beautiful area.

We visited Alfareria Juan Simon to get some kitchen items to take home. There's a huge choice of items on display from fridge magnets to enormous garden pots. You can even see the owner at the potter's wheel itself or hand-painting the items. There are 2 large rooms inside, filled with pottery. We left with all kinds of bowls and trinkets. Well worth a visit, even if you're just passing through Sorbas.

Rodalquilar Gold Mine

Reviewed By Robert C - Copenhagen, Denmark

Well, the mention of gold usually causes interest for some reason and whilst you won't see any gold, there are plenty of interesting and colourful mineral and rock formations exposed at the site. Essentially derelict, there are enough of the buildings and settling pools which together with an information board gives a good impression of the working of the mine. Be very careful on the steps, there are no guard rails, but climb to the top for good views and the start of a broad, easy walking, mineral road with extensive views to both sides of the track. Do visit the nearby geological museum, free to enter, which explains further about the mine (with artefacts and model of the mine) plus minerals found in the locality
