We arrived right on 10am to find they were just opening for the day. I was a bit surprised at this late opening time and glad we hadn't inadvertantly turned up earlier. They only had one e-bike available for hire that morning, as the other one was not working. We hired three mountain bikes and one e-bike and had a lovely morning biking along the wide, smooth gravel track to Pencarrow head. The e-bike did stop working for a while but my son managed to fix it. Once at the Lighthouses there is quite a network of bike tracks to explore, which go around a couple of lakes and up and down some decent hills. All tracks were well maintained. We enjoyed the views, the exercise and the fresh air and would definitely recommend this activity.

The amount, variety and quality of the NZ souvenirs is astounding. There are items here that I haven’t seen anywhere else in NZ. Everything I have purchased is of very high quality. The staff are always lovely. My only criticism is the totally uninteresting layout which does not do justice to the amazing items.

The Orongorongo Track is located in a very beautiful part of the Wellington area. One drives through Wainui-o-mata and along the Coast Road to enter Rimutaka Forest Park. Have only done a small portion of the track and there is magnificent bush and huge trees. One can stay overnight in huts or tents but that needs to be organized with the Ranger before hand. It is a few years since we were last there and we took a young English friend with us to experience New Zealand's bush.

We mainly came here to see the Gallipoli exhibit which was made in conjunction with Weta Workshop. It was quite busy so didn't really get the chance to go around slowly and read everything or listen to the stories of the large 'statues', but wow. The detail, scale and skill of these exhibits are so incredible. The freckles, hair, scars, sweat etc. Incredibly life like, just on a bigger scale. Amazing.

Great off road walk though to be fair you have to be alert to the odd mountain biker who hurtles down the rail .... lot of interesting things to see and a very peaceful place to sit

This is one of the main access points to the Rimatuka Forest Park open 8am to Dusk everyday (gates locked at dusk)
Rimutaka Forest Park is a beautiful park. It has plenty of walking tracks, swimming holes, camping grounds, bush cabins to rent, barbecues, hunting areas, recreation areas, and much more. The most popular entrance, via Catchpool Valley, is 15-20 minutes drive (12 km) down the Coast Road, drive a bit further to the ocean beach (swimming not advisable strong currents not patrolled)

There are many km of walks but this is probably one of the easier ones in the area. An easy drive from Hutt, the park entry is free. There are toilets at the parking area but that is all that is available. Beautiful walk along the creek thru stunning rainforest!

As crazy cat people we love visiting cat cafes wherever everyone travel.
This Wellington one just opened a month ago. The owners are very friendly, the cat playful and the hot chocolate looks delicious . Also FANTASTIC cat items to purchase... we did...
If you like cats and you are in the area- certainly worth a visit

The Earth Quake damaged a portion of the mall, but is now minus the movie Theaters..
Shopping.. with the usual, average middle range women's clothing predominant, throw in a Warehouse, Farmers, Countdown. With the usual FOOD COURT and casually scattered food stalls, and other shops that cater for the average family, U have a MALL.. much the same as most larger Malls in NZ! No designer brands available at present?
There is public Seating available ( not too many) which is a godsend on cold miserable days, when you can go/ meet here with friends, and sit and talk in comfort, for free!!
School holidays are a nightmare. This is a FREE CHILDCARE facility for school kids..
Give them some spending money, and they run riot along the walk paths.. playing catch me, etc..and being a Bl...y nuisance to shoppers and browsers alike.

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour, it's not massive but it takes you through the history of Chocolate/York and has something different in every room...I especially loved how the picture frame room worked! You get to understand high and low quality chocolate and learn how to taste it properly, then finally you make your own lolly and then watch how they make chocolate with fillings.....very interesting.
