My 14 year old son and I thoroughly enjoyed the "Town Tour" with Linden yesterday. We enjoyed learning about his family, their beliefs, some of the issues about being indigenous as well as being able to ask many questions. We loved meeting Linden's family and...MoreThanks grahamteenapaul, thanks for your review, we will be sure to pass this onto Linden.

It is advisable to prebook this tour and turn up early as the bus carries 33 people and would be tourists were left behind. you also need to wear long trousers, long sleeve shirts and closed shoes and socks. you are provided with high vis vests and safety glasses. the cost is $75 pp. Children younger than four are excluded. We did have some very well behaved young children on our tour.
The first part of the tour takes you around all the upper areas of the site with two stops where you can get out of the bus to take photos and look around in a defined area. The final part of the tour goes down into the processing area where you remain on the bus and photos are not allowed at all.
The whole experience would have been excellent but with the knowledge, communication skills, personality and mining experience of our guide, Graeme, the morning was more than merely excellent. Fantastic! Thanks so much Graeme.

Museum of the Goldfields showcases the rich Aboriginal culture and glittering history of the Eastern goldfields. Discover how the gold rush transformed the region into an economic powerhouse and learn about the unique role the town has played in WA's development. Explore the largest display of gold bars and nuggets in the state, step back in time to see how prospectors searched for this precious metal, and learn about the life and hardships faced by mining families during the early 1900's We are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New years Day, Good Friday and morning of ANZAC Day.
We enjoyed the visit and the staff helped us find a great old publication based on the 1900's when the gold mines were booming.
We enjoyed visiting the displays and the old miner's house in the courtyard as well as the dentist's chair and lounge up above the old pub.
The vault under the building is also really good to check out; the gold bars and nugget displays are brilliant.
We also enjoyed the old world banners that were created back in the Union times of the mining industry; great historic pieces that are quite huge in scale.
Definitely a great museum with very pleasant staff who obviously enjoy working at here!

No visit to Kalgoorlie is complete without a visit to Hannans North Tourist Mine, where you will experience a vibrant mix of gold rush history and modern day mining. During your visit you can climb a giant 793C haul truck, stand in the shovel of a 994F loader, listen to Paddy Hannan tell his tale of discovery, pan for gold and try your hand at the legendary game of "two up". After exploring you are welcome to make use of the free BBQ facilities or have a picnic in the Garden of Remembrance. Before leaving, pick up a unique souvenir in our gift shop.
The area is really great with plenty to do and plenty to see. The limited funds for the area are used well, the staff are very helpful. The truck and loader are great. The Chinese Gardens are really worth a quiet stroll around. The big drawback was the Mining Hall of Fame being closed although this is not part of the tourist area it would be a huge drawcard to Kalgoorlie to see this up and running

A quick visit to the Town Hall should be on the agenda. It is free. The theatre is gorgeous. There is often small Exhibitions here and a small musuem. Do this before/after visiting the tourist info centre at the start of your stay as it is located in the same building.

It never ceases to amaze me that the flying doctor service covers such a broad area of Australia. This service is truly marvellous and has helped bring medical services to most remote areas. For a bit of storytelling and fun this is a great attraction that puts a spin on the years of prostitution in Kalgoorlie - skip it if you are a prude.Thank you, for your review. I put my heart into the tour, as I am very fond of the "old Kalgoorlie', and the people who made the town, families, men and 'girls'. Carmel.

This is lovely park to walk around with several walking trails and a viewing platform with great views. Perfect natural bushland with salmon gums and wildflowers among the many native species. Great photo opportunity.
