Fantastic thrilling experience with gorgeous views. Guide was great and made it fun. I loved how close we got to the stumps. This is a must do!

In the rustic surrounds of an original apple shed, learn about the Huon's fascinating apple heritage told through the eyes of Willie Smith. A range of delicious ciders is available at cellar door and the cafe serves a simple menu of the finest regional products.
We stopped off here to taste their ciders and grab some lunch. Our eyes shot up when we saw that the ham and cheese toastie was $14. From the first bite I realised that it was the best ham and cheese toastie that I have...MoreHello The Merry Travellers, Thanks so much for popping into The Apple Shed! Those toasties are pretty good aren't they and the cider too. Come back for the Apple Pie - it's worth another trip.

For me, a great cellar door experience is the sum of many things.
Just having great wine is only one thing....
We found nice facilities, however the staff were not engaging, nor passionate, and appeared to be just going thru the motions with us. They were also continually trying to get us to eat in the restaurant.
The tasting fee is quite fair at $4 to sample 5 wines. The amount poured was precise..
The 2015 Pinots were great, sticky too, but the overall experience I was looking forward to from this establishment was not.

In the rustic surrounds of an original apple shed built in 1942, learn about the Huon's fascinating apple heritage told through the eyes of Willie Smith. A range of delicious ciders is available at cellar door and the café serves a simple menu of the finest regional products. A small providore will enable local producers an outlet in the Huon Valley where they can showcase their products and produce to visitors to the State.
Stopped in to taste some cider and have a light lunch. THe wall of apples was intriguing as we could not tell if those on display really were those labelled or not ! NIce atmosphere in the restaurant area and a small museum to one isde.

Sail the beautiful 80 year-old Danish ketch "Yukon" in the calm waters of the Huon River - rescued and restored by Australian ship-wright David Nash from the bottom of a harbour near Copenhagen. Join David to hoist the sails, learn more about this historic vessel's amazing history.
Great to be out on the water enjoying this restored vessel. Friendly staff and wonderful views. The commentary was very light on, it would have been great to hear about Franklin’s wonderful history. An enjoyable experience nevertheless.Thank you for sharing and truly sorry you missed the commentary on Franklin. We normally share our knowledge, and are happy to provide information next time you visit or via email.

The Apple Valley Market on the 2nd Sunday of the Month brings rustic atmosphere, creators and artists together with live music, great food, coffee and more. Pop into the amazing town of Ranelagh and visit the market for quality shopping as you tour the Huon Valley.
The inaugural Apple Valley market at Ranalagh took place last Sunday, 10th January 2016. A new market in the beginning of a new year. I have been a stall holder in quite a few craft markets now in Tasmania. This one is a delight. A huge range of stalls and a wide range of skills amongst the makers. Plenty for the punters: flowers, still photographs of stunning macro detail, beautiful woodwork, jewellery, retro furniture, food, music, leather work. Did I mention food? Inside the halls were stall holders selling cakes and biscuits and jam. Outside Allisandro ran a fund raising BBQ making hamburgers, veggie burgers and sausages.. I've had a veggie burger from him before for very little cost and stunning flavours even though it sounds simple with a bun, spinach, egg and mushrooms. He expresses himself through creating flavours. This time I bought a Harrison veggie burger from the Ranalagh General Store that is right across the road. They serve cafe level food of Hobart standard. Delicious burgers and great coffee using Zimmah beans. There was a good level of energy from the market and the store. I think it is going to be an ongoing great combination. The next market is on the 14th February

Visit the Huon Valley Visitor Centre for all your travel needs. Friendly local staff can assist you with information and offer a free booking service for accommodation and attractions state-wide. The Centre has a fantastic range of locally made products, produce and also souvenirs. Open 7 days a week excluding only Christmas Day and Good Friday. Easy parking, free Wi-Fi, toilets and baby change facilities, wheelchair access.
It doesn’t look much from the outside but once entering there are plenty of information booklets and sheets, nice gifts and souvenirs plus the Honey Pot, the staff are extremely helpful even when I had to admit to making a mess by knocking some dried lavender on the floor. I understand that the information centre is going to be moving into Huonville, not sure when, so whether The Honey Pot moves also I can’t say. But do call in and the girls will look after you also I am sure.
