I haven't been here for years. My one visit was dismal. As a vegan, I'd hoped they could "veganise" some vegetarian option dishes, but the food I was served seemed to have been deprived of anything that tasted, in spite of saying I like spicy food. It was basic gluttonous starch, and only by adding soy sauce did it have more than basic taste. we only had one option for a meal, it was terrible, and the staff didn't seem to care.

We stopped at this cafe for lunch. First thing we noticed was the spaciousness, cleanliness of the cafe with very clean chairs and tables.
It had a constant short queue of customers today at 1pm. We tried the curried scallop pie, which had the promised minimum 6 scallops and very tasty, the bacon and cheese pie also very good. My brother had the chicken salad Sandwich and said it was very good.
Service at the counter was friendly and patient. We did have to wait about 10 minutes for our latte and expresso.

Fish and chip cafe on the river
Had the flat head with chips and salad the other day... the fish was cooked well but i didnt think it was worth the price. 100 grams of fish for 15 dollars is way over priced. Would expect at least double for this.
Otherwise was a great view of the river and friendly service.

A sound array of freshly cooked fish, Pizzas (after 16:00), and staff who are friendly and attentive.
There's a lovely walk through the "Lemon Tree" garden (please feel free to bring your canine pet with you, but do not pinch the lemons!).
We enjoyed today a "Fisherman's Basket" ($18:50) and "Squid with Chips" (around $11:00).
The fish was fresh, perfectly cooked and the chips were delicious too.
This delightful little fish cafe/restaurant offers takeaway too. Just remember that it's closed every Tuesday.
From Hobart, allow a 40-minute drive down the Huon Highway. Once you reach Huonville, you'll meander through the Huon Highway about 8 Kms until you reach Franklin. This restaurant is nestled beside the Huon River on the left (heading south that is). Well worth the visit.

A small family run restaurant nestled in the riverside town of Franklin in the Huon valley. Offering picturesque views of the Huon river and surrounding countryside with both inside and outside dining. We offer separate lunch, dinner and takeaway menus. For lunch we have delicious Thai curries and stir-fries, an asian mixed platter as well as crepes(locals tell us our seafood crepe in the best ever) and seafood chowder are amongst the choices.Fish and chips are also an option. Our dinner menu offers a full Thai menu with dishes such as Pad Thai, Tom yum and coconut prawns. Our specialties are our Penang curry lamb, Chu Chi salmon and Seafood Chu Chi Curries.Everything on our Menu is homemade with our spring roll selection extensive (try our kangaroo or prawn spring rolls). There is also a Western menu for those who just feel like a good Steak. The Restaurant is fully licensed with a large wine list.
We had dinner here on NYE. We didn’t have a reservation. They were busy and were able to find a table for us. The food was lovely and the service was very good. We would highly recommend a meal here when you’re staying in Franklin.Thankyou for taking the time to write a review. It was a busy night but we aim to always accommodate our customers. We are glade you enjoyed your meal and look forward to seeing you in the future. Kind regards Mark and Ha.

I live in Hobart and Occasionally work in Huonville. Any time I'm coming home through there, without fail, I will stop in here and grab a pizza to bring home. It's a woodfired pizza place, with amazing pizzas. My personal favorites are the Rocket and the Smokey Salmon. Everything seems to be top notch ingredients and the pizzas are made right in front of you. The shop is warm and super inviting with the fire going in there, there's a pool table in the back and is licensed. The owner and chef is a really chill guy, great to spin a yarn with. As far as comfortable atmosphere and awesome pizza go, for me it's pretty much the perfect place to stop in at the end of the day and grab a beer and dinner before heading home.

Two meals for dinner off the specials board. $17 for a mediocre pork roast. $25 for crumbed scallops, expected a Tassie delicacy, but they were overcooked and disappointing. We have had many good pub meals but this was not one of them. Drab atmosphere but good service from the waitress.

Home Hill Winery is a boutique vineyard and restaurant situated in the picturesque Huon Valley, just 30 minutes south of Hobart. With award-winning wines, and a menu full of delicious local and Tasmanian produce, Home Hill has been a popular destination for locals and tourists alike for over 15 years. The vineyard was planted in 1992 with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sylvaner grapes. The grey loam, high-clay soil and reliable rainfall provide excellent growing conditions for these varieties with the wines winning multiple awards including the prestigious 'Jimmy Watson Trophy' for the 2014 Kelly's Reserve Pinot Noir, amongst other accolades. Home Hill is the perfect location for lunch, your next event or function, weddings, or just to pop in for a wine tasting.
The first impression of the winery was perfect with beautiful grounds and entry. Unfortunately the less than enthusiastic greeting from the winery staff as we entered set the tone for the disinterested wine tasting and meal service. Such a shame the disinterest of the wait and cellar door staff member spoiled what could be a sensational place. No information provided about the wines at the tasting (and we gave up asking for information after the first few attempts with almost no response) resulted in us not ordering a bottle of wine or buying any to take home. Food was superb, well cooked and perfectly seasoned. Unlikely we will return though due to the lacklustre service. Too much competition for this to be occurring in a winery of this quality. Go to Frogmore instead to see how food and service combine perfectly.
