Located in Hidaka, Saitama Prefecture. The park is accessible at a walking distance of 15 minutes from the Koma railway station on the Seibu-Chichibu Line.
This park is best visited in the month of September when the spider lilies are in full bloom. The bloom is usually during the last 2 weeks of the September.
There is an entry fee to the park and that is very minimal considering the wonderful sight of the large stretch of Spider lilies along the river side and in the forest areas within the park.
This is a good one day activity from Tokyo during the month of September. Do check the local listings and notifications before visiting this park for more details.

This park is 20mins walk away from Motokaji station. You will see the moomin after passing by the stadium & walking thru the stadium open parking lot. A small little park with Moomin building arounds. Quite cute & fascinating. But super crowded with children running around. I woudn't recommend to come all the way from Tokyo just for this but do stop by if you are on the way back from Kinchakuda park.

It's just a very short "mountain" however it's still a beautiful place to visit, the top of the mountain is an Observatory deck which can let you have a beautiful view of the city and other Mountains in the range, I was told you can see Mount Fuji as well but I didn't get to as the sun was too bright that I couldn't see much let alone Fuji. It's connected to Mount Tonosu so if you're feeling like you can go more just follow the trail to Tonosu. Observed that locals climb to the top to chat and take in the view and enjoy a cup of tea together and children playing around. It's around 15minutes to 20minutes away from the station.

Fascinating place. The ancestral shrine of the local people who originally migrated from the northern part of Korea to Japan. The tomb of the king is in the grounds of a nearby Shingon Buddhist temple. The shrine / temple is a good combined visit and they are close. Both are obviously thriving and well maintained.

I have seen a lot of temples in Japan (and other countries), so this one did not surprise in anyway. But, it has a nice atmosphere and feels like people care for it. The main priest was a sports journalist before being ordained and has maintained those links. There is a zazen meeting between 6am and 8am every Sunday morning, which anyone can attend. I am unsure that it is worth 300 yen to get in and look at the Gardens from the back of the main shrine hall but - maybe - I've seen too many nice Gardens too.
Apart from that - nice wide grounds, where you can eat a picnic lunch.

Hanno station is only about 45 minutes from Ikebukuro. When you arrive go to the information counter at the station and get a map. In about a 2.5 hour return trip you can hike up 2 Mountains (only small, 100m, and 250m), then hike along a beautiful river bank, before returning to the station. You can then enjoy a bowl of soba, ramen or udon noodles, before heading back to the city! The trails arent too demanding but the scenery is wonderful.
