It offers an opportunity for sight seeing, including the barrage, on the both sides of the Damodar River. It also offers a good outing for Picnic on a sunday or holiday. It is a delight during dawn or dusk hours, depending on the sunset or sunrise as the case may be. ,It is ideal for city dwellers to visit once a while to enjoy the nature, in all its bounty.

Near Deer Park
Visited Durgapur after a long gap of 12 years.
Earlier Troika park had boating and toy train. Now it contains many rides for small kids. The attendant was really helpful. He was checking through a test ride whether the speed of the rides was comfortable for the kids and then starting the ride.
Enjoyed the evening out in the park with small kids.
We went there with two kids aged between 3 and 4 years. They enjoyed a lot.

1. Approach road in pathetic condition (last 5km). Do not even think to drive yourself.
2. Not worth visiting. Nothing to see as such.
3. Need to pay a private toll tax of Rs. 30 (car) or Rs. 50 (van/bus) for crossing a narrow bridge (in a pathetic condition) of hardly 100m.
Overall, waste of money and time. Same is the condition of Deul Park nearby).

Had read about the Durgapur Steel Plant, in our text books in school, and on this road trip, while we were travelling between Kolkata and Varanasi, we had the opportunity to see the plant from outside, since we were passing through Durgapur.
It is a massive plant, but we were told that casual visitors are not allowed inside the plant, so we just saw it from outside and marvelled at the magnitude of the Steel plant

wonderful historical live temple from sometime in the 14th century. situated just beside historical ruins of British settlements for indigo cultivation. a must see...though a very small temple...it is lovely to walk around exploring the place. though beware of snakes.

Enjoyed watching movie with friends over here. Nice and well maintained, have 3 screens and the snacks are available at really good prices. Best thing was popcorn - super tasty
