Once a cozy fishing village of only a few thousand people, Bodrum has experienced a renaissance in the last half century that has transformed this once-sleepy community into one of Turkey's most popular vacation hotspots. Writers, intellectuals, artists and musicians have long called this Aegean town home, or second-home, attracting a vibrant cultural scene paralleled only by the town's nightlife. Windswept beaches and glittering waters provide the backdrop to the perfect beach getaway.

I didn't know of Zeki Muren but even still I found the super-flamboyant clothing and pictures fascinating. It was a heart warming cultural excursion into the ever surprising Turkey. I wish there had been some information in English for non fans, but even still there's plenty to see over a half hour.

Yahsi beach is located in Ortakent. It is reachable by minivans (dolmus) from Bodrum. The water is always clean because it is an open bay unlike some other bays around Bodrum. It is good for water sports, sailing or Surfing. Along the beach, you will find cafes, restaurants and shops.

This imposing structure, built by the Knights of St. John in the early 15th century, is the most prominent feature of Bodrum.
I can't give this a 5 star because unfortunately some of the areas of interest were closed, however the parts we were able to see were very interesting. I missed the kitchens which I particularly wanted to see - couldn't face going back in as it was sooooo hot and my feet hurt. Its a lovely place to visit, beautifully kept and well worth a visit. The history surrounding it is fascinating but I would strongly recommend some Reading up before your visit and check up on when everything is open to view.

This is the best bar in Bitez. Good music, quality drinks and exceptional staff. All staff at the bar are very friendly people. I felt them as friends. They made our vacation unforgettable. Thank you guys. We will be back in Temple Bar.

The rooms and towers of St. Peter's Castle house this museum, which exhibits several collections of ancient artifacts including relics retrieved from local shipwrecks.
Fascinating artefacts from across the ages.
Huge collection of Amphora from various countries and styles.
Was lucky as most of the towers (Bodrum Castle) we’re open as well.
Well presented and believe with a bit more understanding by the Turkish Government (Tourism) can be so much better.

This area in Turkey is absolutely beautiful. Fantastic fish restaurants, great to sit have a relax coffee in the morning and it has a lovely peaceful feeling. I would highly recommend going down into the harbour area for a stroll and to admire the boats. People are friendly. It's a bit more expensive than bodrum but for a lovely treat and nice meal it's worth it.

Great place to visit... Beautiful deep blue sea with a Bodrum Castle & Marina view. The beach has few hotels located which are reserved for hotel guests but if you go a little forward there are some spots ( beach cafe and etc.) to spend some good time in here. The food and prices are average . The sea and location is unbeateble being very close to the city centre.

Plenty of sunbeds for the price of a drink at the nearest bar. Water sports available near the Bitez Han Hotel. Public toilets near The Mosque.
The sea was very clean, shallow and great for snorkelling, extremely safe for children to paddle in. Boat trips are available at the marina, for about a tenner you can have a great day out.
The only possible downside is the amount of stray dogs roaming the beach. There are several packs which hang around hoping for food. The all sleep on the sunbeds at night and can be quite forceful when it comes to scrounging. Most of the time they are lovely, but if they take a dislike,to someone,, especially dog walkers, there's murder with a ten pack of dogs Barking their heads off and chasing their poor victim.

Built sometime during the Hellenistic age, the structure is situated on a hillside over looking the city and was used primarily as a stage for theatrical productions.
If you have spent any time in Greece or Turkey you have done your share of amphitheaters. This isn't the best of them, it's quite big but the busy road just next to the theatre takes away a fair bit from the ambience. But on the other hand from the top rows at the back, you get a great view of Bodrum and the castle.
