The refurbished cable car goes from Bezau to the top and you have the possibility to enter or leave on half way on the Sonderdach where you can enjoy the original restaurant from the mother of Toni Innauer, the winner of the Olympic games of ski jumping. on the top you have an exiting view over the Bregenzerwald as you'll have a 360 degree view. additional it's a place where many flex-wings are starting their fly down to Bezau or on the other side to Andelsbuch. It's nice there just to view all the flex-wings. An additional good option is hiking to the top and using the cable car just for the way down.

The biggest skiingarea in the region of bregenzerwald in austrias most western part Vorarlberg, within over 100 km slopes! Damuels is the snowiest village in the world!
After a lot of searching through the hundreds of alpine resorts of Austria i came across a little known resort of Damuls. Not being on the british package tour operators list of destinations was half the attraction.
Travel was fairly easy with a little planning, we flew with easy jet to Friedrichshafen and from there a fairly simple hour and a half drive in a hire car.
Don't be put off by the driving aspect as it really is very easy, with only a couple of junctions to negotiate. Do remember to pick up a toll sticker to go on windscreen, this is for travel in Austria. Cost for toll 8.80 euros.
Damuls it's self is a very small high village at approx 1400m, very picturesque, clean and quiet. This was another reason for our choice as having been to many other resorts i didn't want all the hustle and bustle of one of the more popular resorts.
As my family were all first time skiers we didn't need a massive ski area although Damuls does offer 105km of runs which are linked to Melau resort.
With the majority being blue and red runs with a few blacks it was ideal for beginner to intermediate. Although i found plenty to keep me happy as well, with plenty of off piste skiing available if that's your thing .
Ski school was excellent, we actually splashed out on private tuition for 3 days. Under the instruction of Robert the kids progressed very quickly and skied much of the remainder of the holiday with me on blues and reds (well worth the extra expense).
There is the usual apres ski and the mountain is very well catered with plenty of ski huts and restaurants. Evenings are quiet but no problems eating out(just remember to reserve a table).
We stayed in Alpinresort self catering apartments, which were absolutely fantastic.
Very new apartment, clean, modern, great kitchen area, lovely bathroom with walk in shower and a stunning view from huge balcony. Apartment was only about 5 min walk to uga chair lift/ski school. You can catch a free ski bus but not really necessary.
I would hire a ski locker at the lift station and take the walk up in the morning .
There is a good sized spar supermarket in the village near the church, so if you plan to eat in a few nights you can find enough here. If you need anything ask for Ron who became our personal shopper, i've never been given a beer to drink whilst being guided round a supermarket(hilarious) thanks Ron!
We had a fantastic holiday here, absolutely loved this place and cannot recommend enough.

Temporary Exhibitions are held in the Angelika Kauffmann Museum from May to October. Public guided tours can be visited on Tuesdays and Sundays. To mark the bicentenary of the death of Angelika Kauffmann, the former farming wing of the building was converted into an art museum. The character and all the minute details of the old rural building were carefully preserved.
Wunderbare persönliche Führung durch eine sympathische Dame, die das Leben und die Figur von Angelika Kauffmann witzig und farbig in Szene setzen konnte.

A ski resort at the top, with self-service. Nowadays, all places in the ski resorts are combined and have agreed prices.
And of course, you pay more then in a local business, however the aim is to have fun skiing- a short break and more fun skiing. For tasty, romantic meals I would not recommend the self-service restaurant.

Took a trip on this lovely narrow guage railway. The train takes you out and back through some fantastic scenery. The trains are not steam operated every day, so make sure you consult the leaflet or website to make sure you get the correct day if that is important to you. The sound of the steam engine working hard was fantastic, particularly when echoing around the hills.

Just the drive to this church alone is worth spending the day doing. We went in May and there were so many wildflowers. The Waterfalls and streams were rushing. The grass was so green yet there were still snowy patches and snow on the alps. You drive past pastures with cows wearing cow bells. It was like a fairy tail, and really exactly what is in many imagination when visiting this area. The church itself is beautiful and up high so affords more beautiful views.

This place like a museum or display that showing contemporary furniture design and much more. Mostly from wood and metal combined. The design is so nice and simple just like minimalism style. They have store and restaurant in the middle of the place. We try to lunch there, the menu is simple, Creamy Potato Soup with herbs and crouton and for the main dish they have Fried Salmon with pasta and some kind of Dumpling made from quark cheese and topped with apple sauce.
