Best ribs cooked over an open BBQ in front of you. All the meat is fantastic and a combo platter is a goof way to go. If Chiles en Nogeles is in season - order it as an appetizer.

Visiting Tehutlacan the Casa Vieja was recommended to us. This is a very pleasant restaurant with a pleasing and warm atmosphere. The service was very good and the food was authentic and very good with the spicing well balanced and delicious. Finess in the service could be improved, such as providing bread plates
and some plates for bones. This is not a cheap restaurant but well worth the money spent.

Must eat a Torta el qui to if you are in Tehuacan. I am a huge fan of tortas. In Tehuacan there are 2 places where tortas are the best I ever had anywhere ever. This place is one of them. (El,Jitomate romántico is the Other).
El quinto is a Tradition in Tehuacán, everyone knows him. The little street car is always packed. There is always a line.
You will be given a choice between Milanese (breaded thin steak) or pavo ( a little spicy oven roasted turkey). I like both. Then using a telera bread or Torta bread he puts mayo, the meat, lettuce, tomatoes, etc... And the super special touch he finishes it by dipping the bread for just a sec in some of the Turkey juices.
It is so good.

La Greca serves the best Oaxacan food in Tehuacan and is definitely one of the places you need to go for dinner if in town. The restaurant is a few blocks from the center of town near the bus station building. The restaurant is very quaint with a Fountain and garden. Most of the food is grilled in front of you and is very tasty. The BBQ's ribs are some of the most delicious you will taste. Stick with any of the meats as they are all fresh and cooked on the grill. I usually have the mixed meat platter which includes ribs, chicken and beef. The guacamole is just the right consistency and spice level.
This is the best value restaurant in town and a favorite for locals. You will not see many tourists in this restaurant and if you speak no Spanish, at least bring a basic language guide so you can interpret the menu. The manager's name is Genaro and he will help make your dining experience fabulous. La Greca has excellent wines for a very reasonable price which is unusual for Tehuacan restaurants. A bottle of Casa Diablo or El Toro will run less than $10 which is 1/3 what the other restaurants on the same street charge. Finish off the dinner with the ice cream which is very light and tasty.

Somos un pequeño y acogedor restaurante local que ofrece deliciosos platillos preparados con métodos de cocción que dan un sabor inigualable.
Casual Italian restaurant off the beaten path. Delicious pastas and pizzas made to order and from scratch. The staff is SUPER friendly and helpful. Salads are generous portions and quite flavorful. We really needed a restaurant between Oaxaca and Puebla. Grilia totally fit the bill. Very unexpected find!

The staff is the issue. The place is nice, well illuminated, but the staff... The time goes by and nothing, when the food arrives it is already cold (because nobody picked it up in the kitchen). The waitresses are smiling and nothing else. Being polite is not enough to run a place.
