Invited by my friend Zsolt we enjoyed again a perfect dinner.
Mixed Salad, Tournedos, Caramel ice-cream with fresh fruits. The Tokai of Hungary was a perfect compagnon for the dishes.
The restaurant is always busy, cosy, the service good but only speaking Hungarian, class, flavour, quality!

It is a nice Jazz club / Restaurant in a section of the town near the river that is being nicely renovated into a park
Checked out the Andante Restaurant in Szolnok on a recent business trip. It is decent with good service and hot food. My "creamy" mushroom soup with dill meat balls was more watery and were than expected but nicely seasoned. No field mushrooms unfortunately. The dill meatballs - two small ones - were made of some meat, possibly chicken but it was hard to tell to be honest. They were a tad rubbery <insert rubber chicken joke here>. The main course of pork tenderloin stew in rosemary /olive sauce over "wavy potatoes" was served efficiently and piping hot. Wavy potatoes must be Hungarian for out of the box regular French fries. While some meat slices were overcooked, some were beautifully cooked. Served with a cold beer for 3000 HUF (about 11 Euros) it is reasonable value. Be aware they only take cash - I had to pay in Euros but the exchange rate was OK. Oh, and bring earplugs unless you like cheesy jazz music by former rockstars.

The whole experience is truly superb. The food is well prepared, arrived hot and a special mention must be made of the Pork Terrine (starter but large enough to be a main), fresh pastas and pizza (really thin crust and excellent toppings). Mind you, our group visited 4 times in 10 days so, we must have tried most of the menu. The staff are extremely efficient and attentive but I must say that a 'smile' every now and again would have enhanced the whole experience. Don't miss it!

The best rastaurant in town. It has average prices, but wide range of dishes of hungarian cuisine. The quality of the services and dishes is satosfactory. I would recommend it to families or business dinners.

This is widely held to be the best place in Szolnok to get your cakes and rightly so. A huge selection of various cakes by the slice or whole. The icecream is also delicious. I have been here several times and never been disappointed. It is however well outside the town centre.

In this small hungarian city there is something you could hardly find even in Budapest or anywhere else in Hungary: after entering spirit of the wine, a collection of incredible wines from different vineyards of Hungary and dozen of homemade beers. The owner is a hero, he knows a lot about hungarian wines and according to his recommendation you should taste white wines..In case you are hungry he can offer domestic cheeses, bread and hungarian sausages. Telling the truth I have never seen those wines and cheeses in any shops and even exibitions he has in the Bar.. All of the wines are uniqe, the food is unbelievable delicious. We tasted the series of white wines there recommended by the owner and bought some bottles also as a present like "Erdekhazassag" and "Szulofoldem". The place is well-designed, there are a lot of wood inside, even you can play a chess meanwhile offer a toast "for you majesty". At first time the prices seem to be expensive but they are good ones considering you get something very-very unique here. And if you visit the place in every month, you can meet with different young waitress at the place for sure..Thankyou!

Returning to this cafe after two years I decided to try something truly exotic and went for the Nicaraguan cigar coffee. It is made by soaking tobacco leaves in grated apple and then mixed with cream - add an espresso shot from Nicaraguan coffee beans and you have this remarkable creation. They claim it is their most successful creation and I can't say I disagree. I left with the pleasant sensation of having had an after dinner coffee with a cigar.

The overall impression when entering this place is as being in a mid-leveled pub, maybe typical, but nothing better. After having booked our food we waited a long time, really too much, thus endorsing our unfavourable initial impression.
But then the food was delicious (I had pork with Czarda sauce = a super-tender shank of pork sauced with bechamelle with onions and flavours), so was the bier (my friends said) and the red wine I had, named Portuguieser and really well tuned. By the way, this wine has the special characteristic of a very low content of tannine...

Sörárium is the first and only interactive beer museum in Hungary combining the instruments of traditional Exhibitions with innovative, new media devices. The museum shows the history of beer, its impact on human culture as well as beer types, their attributes, and the oldest and most significant brands, in an entertaining way. All this is presented in a special, steampunk atmosphere.
Don't miss this restaurant as the outside doesn't really invite you in as the building looks formal. In the double doors under the sign and the basement opens up after you have been through the 'craft beer' museum. A warm welcome, cozy atmosphere with great beers and hearty / generous portions delivered hot and with a smile.

This restaurant is quite far from the center of Szolnok, but it is well worth the visit. The food was excellent and the portions were big. The building and the outdoors Seating has 'szekely' style decoration throughout. There is a big lawn and swings and seesaw for the children. It can get very busy but the long queues are for people waiting for takeaway.
