Stade (German pronunciation: [ˈʃtaːdə]) is a city in Lower Saxony in northern Germany. First mentioned in records in 934, it is the seat of the district (Landkreis) which bears its name. It is located roughly 45km to the west of Hamburg and belongs to that city's wider metropolitan region. Within the area of the city are the urban districts of Bützfleth, Hagen, Haddorf and Wiepenkathen, each of which have a council ("Ortsrat") of their own with some autonomous decision-making rights.

The best thing is that it still exists. There is comfort in still being able to go to a place after 30+ years and enjoy it

We've been to this bar many many times over the years and have always had a good welcome..but things have changed...the old owner Ron has gone and the new manager/owners are absolutely terrible and ungrateful of any business you want to pass them on...only yesterday she turned myself and 4 friends away...we ended up spending €125 in a bar across the road...I can't explain how badly we were treated..the landlady seems lazy and ungrateful..and smiling is a no goer...please do not spend any of your money in this establishment(unless Ron returns) there are plenty of other bars in Stade that are more worthy and grateful for your business...I'd go as far as saying one star is too much for this dive of a place...I'm not a happy chap!!!!!

Two parts: 1st part in English, Zweiter Teil auf Deutsch
We were touring the area and saw that Stade had a Thai restaurant with several good reviews here, so we looked forward to eating here. It was busy, almost every table was taken at lunch and only one server. Note that the menu is 100% in German (no Thai) and the server speaks only German, so English speakers better know some German.) I ordered the fried rice and my partner had the soup of the day. The fried rice was at least made with fresh, not canned, vegetables, with chopped cabbage, carrot, onion and snow peas. It was seasoned only with just a bit of black pepper. In short, it was so bland you couldn't even call it Chinese fried rice. My partner declared the soup inedible and described it as a Bouillon dropped in hot water, poured over raw, completely uncooked vegetables. For this we waited just over 30 minutes from when we place our order, with a table of three who had arrived after us, being served and nearly finishing their food before ours was served. The only Thai art was a single statue, the music was American early 60's pop songs from a CD player (imagine hearing Frank Sinatra singing "That's Amore" in a Thai restaurant), and no traditional Thai dishes were to be found on the menu. The server was not friendly, and was even very rude to my partner when she complained about the soup. No way can i recommend this restaurant.

In a side street off the main thoroughfare in The old town. Modern and very stylish setting. The food is excellent, mostly local and very fresh. There is no vegetarian option on the menu but the kitchen gladly caters for vegetarians and very well. There is an extensive vine list and knowledgable service. Service was all together very friendly and attentive.

We ate here with friends who eat here regularly who told us its was excellent. We were not disappointed the food was amazing and such huge portions and copious free ouzo. Incredible value for money when we re-visit Stade we will certainly return.

Great food, friendly service and an excellent view of the harbour and its historic buildings. Each of us orfered so ething different- schnitzels, fish, sausages and everything was quite good. The desserts were a big hit too- definitely recommend the place!

An outstanding cafe. Great staff, lovely surroundings with Terrace Seating, great coffee. What else? Oh, yes - the ice cream! Terrific range of flavours and toppings. All home made including waffles to die for. The raspberry ice cream was oh so good and, topped with fresh strawberries, pretty well perfect.

We went here for breakfast and it was lovely. It's clearly a real tradition in Germany and it was nice to sit over a pleasant breakfast together. There were many and varied dishes on offer, although certain ones could have been refreshed more quickly perhaps. Very good indeed all round.

I visit Stade on business very frequently and we normally eat around the fish market. I was delighted when my colleagues brought me to this fabulous restaurant. The service was excellent, the food was wonderful and to top it off sitting by the waters edge watching the birds and a few boats pass by. I will definitely revisit!

Nestled away in the outskirts of Harsefeld lies a true gem of a restaurant. It serves local cuisine and the chef makes the most of local, seasonal ingredients. The food is cooked well, tasty and the staff incredibly friendly. They are busy as this is a restaurants where the locals eat, so Reservations are recommended.
