This small, relaxed town’s artsy side runs deep. Chagall lived here, and great art museums such as the Maeght and Saint-Paul’s Museum are in town or just outside it. Its Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs was one of the last commissions undertaken by the Belgian artist Folon. Walk along the ancient city walls for great views—and bring your own sketchbook. Maybe you’ll be inspired too.

My husband and I both enjoyed our lunch at this charming restaurant. I had the vegetarian lasagna which was extremely tasty. My husband enjoyed the pork special. Service was top notch.

Had an amazing braised lamb shank here a few months ago and I'm STILL thinking about it. We sat in the little courtyard outside the restaurant and enjoyed the musicians, cats and even a little domestic "debate" in one of the overlooking flats. Wonderful little spot, and leave some extra time to wander the the little charming town.

OK, the food is expensive (but not, thankfully the house wine) but it is also done perfectly. Simple, classy cuisine. Very professional and attentive staff help create a relaxed, unfussy atmosphere.
And you get to eat in an iconic restaurant that still strives and succeeds at living up to its reputation.
I was so glad we went.

Superbe
Duncurin and spouse were very fortunate to be staying in the beautiful village of St Paul De Vence for a few nights. This has some common themes with other famous walled cities such as Dubrovnik, Rhodes old-town and of course Chester and York. However, it also has its own unique charm.
Eating out is often part of the attraction. The first two nights we ate at a restaurant much recommended on Trip Advisor. The first night was perfectly okay but on the second we experienced lacklustre food and indifferent service bordering on rude. On the third night we were wandering past La Caruso and we asked the gentleman if he had a table for two. He asked us if we could return when they opened at 7:30, and so we did.
The food was delightful. My wife summed it up with her thoughts that ‘it had been cooked with a passion’ and I had to agree. She had the veal and I chose the cod, which was also cooked to perfection. The deux plats (two courses) option is also very good value for money and for dessert we opted for the seven taster desserts. We thought this would just be seven petit fours but in fact it was like small amounts of each dessert on the menu and was fabulous. My wife said the glasses of wine she had with generous measures was excellent and complemented her meal beautifully. We were also given a taster to start (amuse-bouche) which was super and a glass of limoncello before we departed. The lady (? owner) who served us told us she would leave the bottle on the table and we could have as much as we wished. Finally on paying the very reasonable account we were given some gummy bears for our journey.
All in all, a wonderful evening with excellent food, friendly, efficient service and all delivered at a very reasonable cost. Well done, parfait, 5 stars.

It's worth it for the view alone. There is no better view of Saint-Paul de Vence than from La Brouette!
We started the night (we were there 2 nights ago) with a super tasty little aperitif, followed by the marinated salmon and the smoked trout - Michel's signature dish. As one can only order complete menu's and not à la carte you might find the desert a bit too heavy but who am I to complain? At least you leave with a full stomach and at €32 (incredibly reasonable for this area, I have to add) it doesn't even hurt your wallet!
Oh yes, added bonus: absolutely charming service!
La Brouette is a place where you get a real experience. It's welcoming, it's unpretentious and nicely laid back.
If there were more dishes to choose from (maybe a vegetarian dish?) I'd go much more often :)

After an absence of 2 years from Vence, we returned to find things little changed. La Farigoule, for example, is as glorious as ever. Beautiful weather means that dinner in the pretty courtyard at the rear is sheer delight. Front of house, the owner and staff are totally charming and the chef proprietor in the kitchen produces delicious, imaginative food. I'm sure another return visit this evening will fully justify my view that this is by far the best restaurant in Vence and its environs.

A great little place, off the beaten track in St Paul de Vence. It’s open even in February when most of the other restaurants, bars, bistros, etc, are firmly shut. It’s a traditional French bistro where very good English is spoken.
We had the mussels soup for starters. It’s absolutely delicious, with a touch of saffron that enhances the taste. My companion had the duck and I had the steak. Both were superb. The desserts too are lovely.
It is well worth a visit and it’s a place that is definitely not a “tourist trap”.

Great setting by the pool, lovely garden, ideal place to go for a drink. They serve food which is hit and miss, in general below the local high standards.I could have done without the smoke drifting over from adjacent tables

Truly the work of an artist, La Cassoulette's dishes were beautiful in concept, taste,
and visual pleasure. An Amuse Bouche of carrot purée and whipped cream was a delightful surprise. An entree of grenouilles were fresh and tiny, a pile in a green parsley creme 'pond' that was both an experience and a taste sensation. We also had grilled calamari and risotto that was a perfect dream of flavors. Pure pleasure of ambience, charm, simplicity of decor and genuine warmth. Cannot recommend it more highly.
