Encompassing two of the Netherlands’ three largest cities (Rotterdam and The Hague), Zuid-Holland (South Holland) is also home to important towns like Leiden, Gouda and Delft. And many lovely smaller towns dot the gorgeous green landscape. Alphen aan den Rijn has several interesting attractions, including Dutch history theme park Archeon. Picturesque Kinderdijk, birthplace of the legend of the Cat and the Cradle, also has many windmills that together are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

My wife and I celebrated our 40th anniversary last night at Le Vieux Jean. We had their 10th Anniversary Menu and it was extraordinary. It consisted of five courses each one perfectly - let me repeat - perfectly prepared. Venison, scallops, halibut, were each accompanied by a lovely sauce. The dessert for my wife was a confection of apples and chocolate and mine was a plate of cheeses. We each had three different glasses of wine and this restaurant is absolutely superb in choosing wines. The service is professional, knowledgable and friendly. This is what one means when one talks of fine dining.

The restaurant is difficult to get to by car - the nearest car park is the Phoenix park garage 300 metres or so away. Its easier for pedestrians - there is a little arch that leads from Bagijnhof into the centre of town.
But once you get there it is lovely. The building itself is 17th century and beautifully decorated inside and out. We had a table located under the removable roof and in the summer, with the roof open on a warm evening it was excellent.
We really didn't want a full four course or five course meal so had the three item selection of starter, main, dessert. Everything was beautifully presented as in a fine dining restaurant. But I found the food just a little bland. I could have done with a bit more seasoning. My companions were perfectly happy though.
Wine was good and the Puglia red house wine very good value.
Service was very good and contributed to a very pleasant ambiance
I enjoyed my evening, just couldn't quite give it an "excellent"vote.

Chef Han merges the Oriental and French kitchens with one another.
it's a surprise that there is chinese-french combined cuisine restaurant in den haag. the entrance and the decoration are interesting, guests' coat are collected after entry.
appetizer on the house is a little surprise, different small snack and source on wooden spoons and plates, very interesting for welcome.
5 courses are well prepared and well served, the cooking technique and the presentation of plates are excellent, i can feel the cook devote his skill and creation in those dishes. chinese steamed bun in stead of bread and butter is amazing specialty.
the wine "book" is interesting, recommended wine matching the course are fresh but young.
not much surprise in courses or wine, but it fits the michelin 1 star title, recommend to go when you are in town.

Each Sunday this restaurant offers a set Sunday lunch, and while you can order off the main menu, I'd stick with this option. This we did and feasted on exquisite food, seasonally fresh and beautifully presented. The husband and wife duo are lovely. They even...MoreThanks for the lovely words Greetings Cor en Sjaan Raggers

Eleni was full when we got there, but we had a reservation TG. When we sat down, the restaurant was a bit noisy. Not because the tables are too close together, but because everyone is having a good time and also because the decor doesn't absorb any noise. we had the Chef's special, with some extra salads and altogether we had a lovely meal. Lots of grilled meat, as you would expect at a Greek restaurant, and very good service. The food was very fresh and well prepared, much nicer than most Greek restaurants I've been to. Price range is reasonable, not the cheapest, but very fair for the quality of the food and the overall experience. So we left in good spirits and we will recommend and return some time. PS: Funny detail is they serve 0.5 liter bottles of wine. This wine is very good with the food.

I've had the pleasure of eating in many fine restaurants but this one puts most of them to shame. The experience is pure excellence. The two female waitresses are knowledgeable and unbelievably attentive. The sommelier and hostess ,if possible, even more so but more importantly everybody seems to do their job with a sense of love, pride and passion that's unparalleled. You feel welcome from the moment you enter the door of the beautiful old building until long after you've left. The food is on equal par with the excellent service and never skips a beat. the timing is immaculate, the tastes surprising but always balanced and all in all quite simply wonderful. A special mention should be made of he wine paring which was spot on every time!
This restaurant currently has one Micheline star but punches well above it's weight and isn't easily outdone by some 2 and even three star venues. I would happily go here again...and agian... and again .. it truly is ... very close to being perfect.

We chose the "Trip with different dishes" menu. High quality food, good mise-en-place. One of our party will not eat fish, so alternative dishes were provided. The wine arrangement , with excellent choices, was also available as half glasses, so we could still enjoy the fourth course. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will return.

This place is located just a little bit out of the center of Scheveningen. the interior is cosy and the staff friendly, a good ambience in total. the food served is of very good quality and the right proportion. For every dish served you get a good explanation what is on your dish.
They are also very flexible concerning the diner. We asked for a four course surprise diner with only seafood. This is not their normal surprise but they made a good combination of seafood and fish. I would go there much often but I'm living to far away for that.

We had a superb dinner here. We had the six course dinner and there was no disappointment there. Great taste combinations and not too much food. Accompanying wines were good and not too weird. Very friendly service. You can sense the love for the food and wines.
The restaurant has table d'hote principle, so you just choose the amount of courses. No à la carte.
The place attracts a nice mixed crowd which makes it even more pleasant.
