For those who enjoy the foods of the former Yugoslavia, this is a rare opportunity to relive the experience. The menu has a nice variety of dishes and wines. Everything we tried on several visits was good. The restaurant is a warren of rooms and they have outdoor eating on a veranda and a street-level patio. The service can be spotty, but the prices are reasonable. The Piran is getting more popular, so it is a good idea to make Reservations.

I didn't come to Germany looking for Italian food, but I found it and I'm glad! The pasta tasted so fresh and the entree was delicious. The portion was surprisingly large, but it was too good to stop eating. The atmosphere was fantastic. Highly recommend!

Really nice and tasteful restaurant in the centre of Schweinfurt. I was already here twice and it is one of the few restaurants which is able to keep high standard and quality every time.
The amuse bouche was really delicious and original: crème brulée of liver with mango. Every plate was really well made and particular, accompanied by an excellent service and friendliness. Really worth to eat in this restaurant and to come back.

Pomodoro is our restaurant of choice in Schweinfurt. For starters, it looks, feels and smells like a local restaurant in a small Italian city. The walls are cluttered with the bric-a-brac that one finds in such charming locales. Pomodoro affords one of Schweinfurt’s best values for the money. It is an everyday restaurant whose kitchen competes with the best in town and never fails to please with its variety, quality ingredients, excellent preparation and extensive wine selection. Even the pizza has no rival. The service is always good, even at the busiest times.
We ate there, as we often do, at the end of a long and busy day. We wanted a good meal, in a pleasant atmosphere, and the leisure to unwind with a good glass of wine. My wife had the Doraden filets and I the Scialatielli. Each was prepared to Pomidore’s usual high standard. Service was prompt, courteous and efficient. We left well satisfied.

Several years ago, Vicinoteca was one of our favorite restaurants in Schweinfurt. In 2014 we had several disappointing experiences there and had not been back until this visit. Fortunately, the restaurant has regained its reputation for excellence and I can again recommend it.
The dining area is very cramped. Many guests were seated on high bar stools and ate their meals from small round cocktail tables. As the restaurant is always crowded, Reservations are strongly recommended.
The menu features the usual Italian favorites. We four had and shared orders of Calamari, Ossobucco, Miesmuscheln, and a Spaghetti Bolognese.
My Calamari was one of the best I have ever had, but it came with only a small portion of bread.
The Ossobucco was very nicely seasoned, but the meat was stringy.
The Miesmuschel had such tasty seasoning that I ranked them among the very best I have eaten. Unfortunately they came with no starch and we had to order two portions of Italian Bread at 4€ per roll sized portion. Most restaurants include the bread as part of the price with Calamari, or Miesmuschel.
The Spaghetti Bolognese was the least expensive main courses on the menu and was good, but nothing special.
With a kitchen this good I recommend that you try things that you cannot get in every other Italian restaurant.
The wines, as always, were very good. Vicinoteca has a small but fine selection. Our past experience is that they can be trusted, especially for moderately priced quality wines
The wait staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. The four of us ate for 82€. Vicinoteca is again among the cities very best restaurants.

Traditional German restaurant with beer garden, upstairs private party booking and basement nightclub.
Located in the center of town, the Brauhaus is not really a Brauhaus anymore, rather it is a restaurant that retained its predecessor's name but sells beer brewed elsewhere. After being closed for a lengthy full renovation, the restaurant has reopened and regained its predecessor's reputation for excellent food.
We ate there on a Saturday evening, without Reservations. Our table was at the door and was quite chilly. Fortunately, we were able to move to a better table before our food arrived. In the course of our meal, we had 3 waiters. One was pleasant and helpful, one average and the third was rude and abrupt.
The menu had an above average number of selections for each course. Prices were in line with the quality of the food. My wife ordered the goose and I the Matjas marinated in Port. Both were excellent. We each had different beers. This restaurant consistently short fills their beer mugs and glasses. Each of our beers was at least a centimeter below the full line. We mentioned it to two of our waiters. One shrugged it off and the other was annoyed that we complained. No one addressed the problem. We had a similar experience on our last visit.
The restaurant is not an especially pleasant place to eat. The new furniture is a bit uncomfortable and the lack of sound dampening pushes the noise level to the point of being obnoxious.
Despite the short-filled beverages and noise level, I reluctantly recommend the restaurant based on its excellent food.

We had not eaten at the Grune Gans in the last few years, but tried it again this week. Little has changed in the last decade or so. The dining room is still dark green and a bit shabby looking. The menu is up-scale and rather pricey for Schweinfurt, but the food is still well above average. I had the Barbary Duck Breast. At 18.90 Euro, it is the most expensive in the region. It was tender, but ever so slightly dry. I suppose that is to be expected when the breast is separated from the rest of the duck. I was pleased with all the accompanying sides but the Kartoffelplätzchen. It too was dry and had an unpleasant taste. The others at table had desserts and were pleased with their meals. While I can recommend the restaurant, I feel it is overpriced.

Bring your appetite!! The portions are HUGE! Our families favorites are jäger schnitzel and pizza. You will get a lot of food for the price!
The restaurant is somewhat hard to find and it's hard to park in the warm months(because it's always full!) but it's worth it!
