Schwangau is a municipality in the district of Ostallgäu in Bavaria, Germany. The village lies 4 km from the larger town of Füssen and just 1.5 km from Hohenschwangau, a collection of tourist-oriented facilities adjacent to the major tourist attractions of Schloss Neuschwanstein and Schloss Hohenschwangau.

This was our first night in Germany, and it was the offseason. All of the best restaurants were closed. Rather than eat a non-German meal, we went to this place even though I knew it definitely catered to the tourists. Perhaps it was an off night, but the food was terrible. My pork knuckle was so overcooked that I could barely eat much of it. The sauerkraut was too salty, as were the potato dumplings. At first, I thought it was just my American tastebuds that had the better of me, but after a truly authentic and fabulous mean in Landsberg am Lech, the following night, I knew that wasn't the case. I really should have just eaten in my hotel and would have had a much better dinner! - I travel all over the world, and I know that I have high expectations when it comes to eating. Please, please, please, do yourself a favor and bypass this place.

We decided to come here for an early dinner after seeing the reviews. The food was great (although not memorable since I can’t remember what we got), and our server was awesome and attentive. One negative thing was that there were flies EVERYWHERE. We were seated inside and there were so many that it got to be pretty annoying.

Rooms are good, apart from the apartment for 5 people on the ground floor in the annex building, which is a bit of a dark hole. the other rooms in the main house are spacious, clean and well equipped. As elsewhere in Europe no watercooker in the room !! Included breakfast is great and staff is very friendly. Around the hotel several other restaurants if you do not always want to take your dinner there.

We walked in about 1:00 p.m. after our visit to the Castle; and they seated us right away. We were seated in the covered patio area. You could see the Neuschwanstein Castle in the distance. The place was really busy. It looked like they get a lot of tour groups and therefore need to be very efficient.
My husband ordered the roast pork with beer sauce. I ordered the Argentine steak Sandwich. Both were very good and were served in record time. Service was friendly, fast and efficient.
I would recommend this restaurant. We didn't have dessert, but I saw a lot of good things being served.

My wife, with family, shared our 35th wedding anniversary dinner at the Fruhlingsgarten while vacationing in Germany. Simply put, this was by far the best meal we had during our 10-day travels through Bavaria. We had the Bavarian Beef, Fruhlingsgarten Filetteller, and Allgauer Kasspatzen, and then finished it off with the Homemade Sorbet. Everyone raved about how well-prepared and tasty the food was.

Romantic Restaurant with a fantastic view to the fairytale Castle Neuschwanstein and the Bavarian Alps. In the differently designed areas of the restaurant, guests can enjoy delightful creations of the young kitchen team, which is characterized by seasonal products from the region combined with international influences. First-class wines and excellent cocktails at the hotel bar complete the culinary experience of Louis II.
Definitely a great surprise. I ate a veal schnitzel that was absolutely delicious, for a reasonable price considering that's the restaurant of a superior 4* hotel in a highly touristic place. I was just disappointed by the dessert. Besides, the place itself is charming, and the waiters were really kind. I would recommend it to anybody going to Füssen/Schwangau.

I know it may sound strange, but Il Pescatore is one of the most authentic and delicious Italian restaurants I've ever been to!!!
My husband and I went here after our hote conciergel had highly recommended it for a mid-week, late night meal. It's rather hard to find anywhere that is open in the small village late at night, but luckily we got a table reserved for 8pm.
What an absolute gem this place is!!! It's completely family-owned and operated, made apparent by the young Italian kids running through the kitchen while pastas and wines were continuously flowing in and out of the doorways.
We had just recently gotten engaged earlier that day, so our sweet waitress brought us celebratory spirits on the house to celebrate! This was back in November 2014 and it was such a wonderful (and delicious) choice that we encouraged friends to go recently on their trip to Füssen and they had a very similar experience! (that was this past year)
I cannot wait to go back once we make it overseas again as the service, the pasta, pizza and overall ambiance was like no other. Its very rare that you find quaint and homey cafes that make you feel like family the moment you walk in.
Thank you Il Pesca for welcoming us into your home!

The Alpenstuben hotel is in the perfect location for walking to and visiting Neuschwantein and Hohenschwangau Castles. A traditional German hotel, our room was everything we had hoped for and had a balcony with a castle view and great for people watching.
The hotel restaurant, where we enjoyed breakfast, offered a wide variety of choices for lunch and dinner as well.
We highly recommend this hotel.

The standard pizzas are a pretty good size - we got 3 for 4 of us, and had plenty left over. The pastas we saw passing by while we were waiting were also pretty big portions. The mixed salad was very good, and also big portions. Id' recommend this restaurant, especially if you have picky eaters, or folks who need a break from Bavarian meat-and-sauce meals.
